Geez, the fact that anyone gives that guy five minutes of attention is a sad testament on the world today.

Porsche publishes delivery numbers, not production numbers. Delivery numbers have been hammered by supply chain issues. Demand is still very strong for the car. Also, Porsche would be smart to shift production to other models while dealing with Taycan supply chain issues. That’s why they’re one of the most profitable car companies on the planet.

perhaps something like this is the reason "sales" are down…shipping snafu's and limited parts preventing/delaying deliveries…

Everyone calm the hell down. This is just another clickbait internet idiot.

How do I know?

I tried to place a 4S order before picking up my dealer-stock GTS. I was told the wait would be well over a year, and that around 12 people were ahead of me on the list.

If Taycan sales are down, it is simply because they can't make them. You know, that pesky war thing that disrupted supply on harnesses and who knows what else?
Exactly.....

Its not that they can't sell them. It's that they can't build enough of them.

Wait lists are getting longer and longer.

Supply chain issues hardly unique to Porsche at the present time.

I watched the video. The guy pretty much rambled along for 10 minutes without bringing any new insights. The title makes it sound like suddenly Taycan production dropped post IPO, but taking 5 minutes to read through the Porsche IPO prospectus and would have seen they specifically disclosed some of the supply chain challenges that happened this year (IE IPO investors already expected a decrease in deliveries)

He never says it directly, but videos like these are meant as clickbait making the viewer think that there is some massive development that porsche won’t be competitive in the high end EV luxury market. You can see it at the end when he complains about the lack of an EV 911 or cayenne, when it’s known that Porsche is slated to release the EV macan and 718 over the next few years. I don’t see many videos from him complaining that Tesla hasn’t released the cyber truck or roadster yet despite those being promised years ago…

Instead, searching on his channel for roadster or cyber truck comes back with clickbait results defending or hyping Tesla, which makes it clear where his allegiances lie. That’s despite the actual massive issue that the cyber truck has now been beaten to market by ford, GM and Rivian without any clear timeline (not Tesla estimates) into when release will actually happen.

So essentially he’s exaggerating production challenges from Porsche due to supply chain issues that many OEMs experienced while ignoring Teslas own issues. So no, I don’t think his video and whatever conclusions he’s trying to infer mean anything

Edit - that reminds me, I’m still owed a case of beer from my Tesla fanboy buddy who bet me back in mid 2019 that the cyber truck deliveries were gonna start in 1H 2020…

The question is are sales down because of reduced demand or due to lack of inventory? Probably the latter. Supply chain crisis hits cars like the Taycan more than other cars in their lineup due to the heavy reliance of EVs on semiconductors.

Felicity Ace, Ukraine-sourced wiring harnesses, and the 12v battery disaster. A uniquely bad year for supply, not demand. Am I a journalist now? :D

There is an actual science to these YouTube videos.

- Pose inflammatory hypothesis
- Add shocked/puzzled face graphic, alternatively attractive people
- Profit
I’m glad they finally figured it out.

If you look strictly at the title of the thread Porsche is kind of in a world of hurt. I agree that sales are down on the Taycan because they can't produce enough not because there is not enough demand but that is a problem. Sure supply chain is a big part of it but they have had over a year to deal with the problems and it seems it has become worse rather than better. I am a manager in the operations department of our company and when we saw all this happening, really over a year ago, we started a process to manage it and now we are coming out of it because the supply chain is starting to turn. Taycan's were already in high demand at that time so you think they would have been working with all their suppliers to make sure they could get what they needed and would have it by now. It seems the Macan EV is on a similar path, delayed in this case due to software issues maybe more than hardware issues.

From an overall management point of view it seems Porsche is not handling these critical issues that are holding back increased sales very well. It doesn't give me a lot of confidence in the management organization and roll out of new products moving forward.

I watched the video some time ago and dismissed it.

However, I am in the market for a used Taycan and noticed that something is not right. Here in Switzerland, the local price comparison engine shows how long cars have been marketed and the price changes since then. It showed many Taycans on the market for up to a year, and many price reductions, with no logic to the market, with rwd cars priced close to turbo s (albeit 30k km mileage difference). So I asked the local dealer to about a 2 y.o. CT4, marketer at 104k chf. Instead he priced me up a new one for 109k. They are keeping published list prices constant but offering almost 15k incentive plus 3k if you don’t take the 1.9% finance package if you ask.

Seems the decline in markets plus implosion of bitcoin and fact that half the bankers in Zurich will be getting zero bonus has caused people to tighten their purse strings.

So I’m going to sit in my hands for a bit until used prices adjust to the new new price reality.

I recently saw this video and was surprised to hear how badly PAG is doing with respect to producing and selling the Taycan.
One click into 0:28: T junk fanboy cannot even pronounce Taycan. :CWL: Is this species still alive? I thought it got extinct with the Twitter saga...
