All Taycan deliveries being held at port due to needing new heaters

After some googling, it seems PAD-963-507 is the SKU. This seems to correspond to at least two part numbers:

9J1963507D
9J1963507E

Unfortunately, both of these part numbers have been around a long time - I found an "E" version manufactured in 2021, so nothing new there. Maybe the new units are "F" or something like that...

Or it was an inconsistent manufacturing process and nobody knows which heaters currently in the field will fail. If they fixed the manufacturing process, they might not roll the part number as to not imply that all of old ones will fail.

This is the most likely explanation since more people than not have perfectly functioning heaters.

Looking at that used battery picture I can't help but think how many pounds of sand get trapped in between the battery and the floor of the car?

I received notification from Porsche this morning that our Taycan GTS Sedan has arrived at the L.A. PEC ahead of its scheduled March 17 date. The TYD map does indeed show the car at the PEC, although I am still seeing the heater module alert that first appeared about one week ago.

I had wondered if vehicles destined for the PEC might be given priority for replacement heater modules in light of the complexity of scheduling PEC deliveries. On the other hand, perhaps the car wasn't fitted with a new module, and that work will be done later at a local dealer. For those who do not have Taycan on order, this is the notification:

"Due to a temporary supply shortage, Porsche is currently experiencing a shortage of heating modules (cabin heating) designed specifically for Taycan. As a result of this situation, certain Taycan vehicles are currently being held at US ports until heating modules can be installed. Porsche is working diligently to address this issue, and regrets that your anticipated vehicle delivery date may be delayed. As always, we ask that you stay in close contact with your Porsche dealer for updates on your vehicle delivery timing. We thank you for your patience and your loyalty."​

Oh, BTW, this will be my wife's and my 9th Porsche, from our first - a 1999 911 Carrera (996) to our current 2019 Cayenne e-hybrid and 2021 911 Turbo S (992). I am as excited about the Taycan as I have been about any car that I have purchased. I am pleased to be a TaycanForum member having previously followed the Taycan forum on Rennlist. (I am still working on my truncated Avatar!)

I received my Taycan 4s 3 weeks ago and was worries about the heating issue so I asked if my car was getting delayed or what I could expect. My SA from a Porsches owned dealer told me the heating issue only affects the GTS. Is it true? I did not have issues but others ordering a GTS still don’t have their car.

PAD 963507 - your replacement heater dated March 3, 2023 - has the same part number as the replacement heater installed in my car in December, 2022. The part installed in your car is newer, but it has the same base part number.

Porsche is one of the up-market brands of the VW group, which also owns Bentley and Bugatti.

Of the 6 models sold by Porsche the 911, 718 and Taycan are Porsche designs, though the Taycan platform is now also used by Audi for their E-Tron GT.

The original Cayenne, which saved Porsche’s bacon since SUVs are big sellers and sports cars are not, was a Porsche modified VW Touareg and is still a shared platform.
The Macan and Panamera are also shared joint developed platforms, the Panamera, Bentley Continental and Audi A8 are close relatives for example.

So no, the Porsche and Piech families (descendants of Ferdinand Porsche and his sister) control the group but the Porsche car company is just one of their brands.

FWIW, my delaer says there isn’t a hold showing on our Taycan Turbo, so perhaps we’ll be picking it up this weekend or next.

Mine is a 4S CT PB+ so NO this is not only GTS

Mine is a RWD and has been held at the factory for more than 3 weeks now so definitely not only GTS models affected.

It seems the factory is deliberately not giving any information. I suspect those that have been told something is nothing more than guess work by the dealers. This delays must be significant otherwise the factory would be saying it's a few weeks. So it's anyone's guess how long the delays will be but I suspect it will be months not weeks. I don't know exact dates on my car as My SA is being vague but my car has been held at the French hauliers for at least 3 weeks and all this time no information. It's terrible customer service.
