I understand but if the same off peak periods can be programmed with the Porsche out of the box offering why layer something else on top?

Tariffs don't change every day, other day, week or month (normally) and so (to me) it's just something else to go wrong and not really needed. In fact, this is what happened to the OP, right?

If your provider insists on its use to take a big brother approach on supply management then no argument at all - a saving is a saving.
The timing do indeed vary on a daily basis (within a set overnight window) based on grid demand and the subsequent wholesale spot rate. For that reason it is needed. Doing this manually would be unworkable. But this is really no different from the credential sharing that is prevalent within IOT apps.

I’d suggest that what’s happened in the OPs case is that the Bulb platform is still automating this because his credentials are still being shared with their platform. Should be a simple case of revoking them. Worst case scenario all he needs to is change his MyPorsche password so that their platform no longer has access.

Ok - we don't get that OVO tariff in Scotland (yet). One day this will be forced on all of us I guess to balance the network(s).

My first year of EV home charging was 100% free - 8000 EV miles per year was the tariff for off peak - 00:00 - 07:00 - sadly that has long gone.

If the window is variable and changing frequently then there is a risk you don't reach your required charge level - that is a bigger problem than the cost saving.

I've done enough beta testing for Porsche with the Taycan and no appetite to do similar for a work in progress 'clever' tariff / charging widget.

It's not my intention to get into a circular debate here. You do what suits you best, but for the benefit of others reading this, the OVO tariff is available in Scotland. I'm in Glasgow.

Also, the app takes into account when you need your car ready, so there's no issue with it not reaching the charging target.

I've only started using it, so I'm not trying to be a cheerleader for OVO here, I'm just presenting the facts, but this is obviously a side-topic to the OPs issue.

The short version for @Olibel79 is to change your MyPorsche password and your problem should be solved.

I just checked (I''m already with OVO) and it is not listed.

I can get Octopus however -

Porsche Taycan Home Charging Paused location based issue?? 1679749108733

and potentially worth exploring.

Depending on SOC 6 hrs (if you want the cheapest rate) may not be enough to reach the target.

It's not listed as a separate tariff on OVO. You download a separate app to your phone called Charge Anytime and set it up. Your account is then credited at the end of the month for any and all low-rate charging sessions that you do.

The upside with Octopus is that you get the reduced rate for all of your electricity used within the 6 hour time frame, the downside is you pay more during the day, so if you can run things like your washing machine, dishwasher, hotub etc, through the night, then Octopus is the better option. If not, you're better with OVO.

Ok thx - you did state 'tariff' - will take a lookie.

...took a lookie at the Charge Anytime and have set it up which so far has been seamless.

thx again for the tip.

...Update - this is just awesome and works really well (so far)!

They can afford to offer the 10p rate with no premium on domestic use by optimising the load on the network to match low demand and/or high wind/solar generation periods so the supply company needs to manage when your vehicle charges.

So far so good - took about 2 mins to set up the app and authenticate with Porsche.

Plugged my PMCC in and the Charge Anytime app sprung into life and then started a charging session which I'm assuming is that it is already a cheap period to do so (SOC was 62%). My existing Timers have been disabled by the app and location based profile remains active.

Not sure (yet) what happens if I enable a timer to pre-heat (no charging) if this will occur and not lead to a conflict.

@Moonstone - really keen to see how this pans out - 'Tip of the Month' is looking to be yours!

Charge Anytime tends to eventually overwrite anything you programme in the car or My Porsche App. It usually works if I change the the timer when I get to make a brew in the morning around 6.30 and set a timer with preconditioning for 7.40am. Alternatively I just manually start preconditioning in the morning.

You maybe asked very politely to come round and explain a few things to me when I get my car.:)

This one has Porsche very confused.

This is a Porsche Taycan 4S Cross T

The problem seems to be location based timers and profiles. Even if I delete all timers and profiles as soon as I plug my car in at home and try and do Direct charging a new timer creates itself. Randomly a new profile also creates itself. The profile even gives itself a name and calls itself Enode.

The mystery timer: The timer that creates itself always sets itself to leave in 2 days time which then pauses charging in the car because car thinks I’m not going anywhere for 2 days.

The Phantom Profile: The profile always creates itself and always calls itself Enode which is a location based profile. Even if I try and delete the profile it will always comeback. Even more annoyingly even if I don’t delete the profile the preferred charging times on this profile are constantly changing themselves.

On the advice of Porsche I was told to do a complete factory reset of the vehicle which I have now done 3 times and the problem still exists. They also hoped that recent server updates would have fixed the problem but the issue still exists.

The only time I can get a charge at home seems to be in the early morning if I set my wall charger to charge 2am - 6am for example. If I set the schedule to come on during the day the timers and profiles kick in and pause charging.

When putting the car into direct charging mode I always thought this was supposed to override and timers and profiles? This car doesn’t override anything and is controlled by the mystery timer and the phantom profile Enode.

Any ideas?

Timer and Profiles issue UPDATE!!!!

Good news the problem is now resolved and timers and profiles all working perfectly and not randomly creating its own anymore.

The resolution was to unlink the car from the Bulb EV app. As someone previously mentioned ref the OVO Energy app creates profiles and timers it seems Bulb must use the same platform and was causing the issues on my car.

Many thanks to those that replied and provided this solution its much appreciated as this was a bit stressful especially knowing I was having a big journey the next day while trying to charge.

Happy driving!!!

Good news.

I took the OVO tip and now use the OVO Charge Anytime app which just takes control of timers and profiles for any time of day charging when it is cheap. It is just wonderful!!

Saved £10 in 2 days - AWESOME!

Great to hear that resolved it. Hopefully my incorrectly blaming OVO Charge Anytime App provided the clue.

Enjoy!!!
