Add me to the cracked roof list. I have the VLC roof. 2 month old CT. 1,100 miles.

Crack was not there on Saturday at 5.30pm - my daughter and I were sat in a jam changing roof settings so we looked at the roof. 50 mile Journey home and then 5 miles to the golf club Sunday morning and showing a mate the car and we spotted it. Taking to the dealer tomorrow and will see what they say. Zero sign of any impact or chip. Absolutely no question this is a design fault.

Thank you! Visited dealer this morning. They could not see any signs of damage causing the crack, so have taken photos and sent to Porsche UK to (hopefully) authorise the repair under warranty. They have seen a couple of these, all on the standard panoramic roof on CT's.

Latest update. Only two hours after seeing the car and sending photos to Porsche GB, I have been advised that replacement under warranty has been authorised. Expect to get the replacement roof in the next 2-3 weeks and apparently it is a 2 day job.

Excellent... let's hope new roof arrives quickly. I've watched one for a few minutes being replaced at Reading... it is a big job.

Really remarkable to me that Porsche continues to roll out what emphatically seems to be a seriously flawed roof (retention) design - almost bizarre but probably influenced by pre-purchased stock and the fact that it is not universally failing I guess.
Have not searched but I assume glass roofs on other brands are not failing nearly as much or we’d have heard far more than what is out there?

I think Tesla and others have had their fair share of roof failures. That said I think this is related soley to the longer CT/ST roof so suggests a design issue?

I do recall seeing failures on the sedan too in the forum though but agree prob a disproportionate no. of CTs.

Search the forum - it’s on here - last person I’d take advise from is a sales advisor (except maybe my own who was excellent but prob not typical)

I assume it's a matter of slightly more torsional excursion possible on the longer frame. May ultimately require re-engineering, adding a cross piece or thickening members. ..that came out wrong.

Early Model S's had some of the same issues with the front windshield.

Dealer just updated me that it will be covered under warranty. Replacement glass took a week to get but now waiting for special installer to come in to finish the work. Estimated completion in a week.

@batteredhaddock @TaycanCook @Gary @baboum68 For those that got your cracked roof replaced, did they detail the main issue causing this or just slapped a new glass roof and called it a day? Do not want this to be an ongoing thing.

The latter. I assume they're just using a dedicated glass person. They're unlikely to detail why it failed. Mine only remarked that it is a stress crack and replaced the windshield and the roof.

So you don't have the same fun as I did, check the following over before you leave:
A pillars where it meets the dash, the trim is fitted properly, mine was folded over and visible.

Imperfections in the headliner, and adjacent parts, these are all coming off.

The grab handles, smooth operation on all 4.

Check the a, b, c pillars for scratches.

Check for pieces of glass in the front dash vents, seats (in case of cuts).

Ouch, that looks to be quite an extensive repair work. Will definitely check those areas. Thanks for the tips!

I'm proud to announce that my roof is cracked again. Found it this way when picking up the car from the dealer. They immediately went into: you could have brought it in this way... Maybe you dropped something on it. They ultimately are going to cover it. I was irate that they suggested I brought it in this way when it was in their care for 3 weeks and they were fixing problems where the roof is clearly in view. Rant over.

The details, this one is different. The glass is cracked on the exterior whereas it was cracked previously on the interior.
