Love the Taycan but worrying about depreciation. As much as the car had lost £35k + over the 2 1/2 years before I bought it. Yeah there are still tax breaks through a company to bring down the overall cost of leasing but a used 992 S is similar money to buy the monthlies are higher but could step out of it in a year or two without losing my shirt. Plus it’s the halo car in comparison. I think I’m going to have to keep the Taycan for the full 4 year term.

If a 992 will meet your needs, there is never going to be anything in the Porsche lineup that will be a suitable replacement.
Exactly! i think they are complementary cars not substitutes for each other, as they are so different.

For me the perfect garage is a Taycan plus a 911 GT3 (of any vintage, but probably a 991.2)!

I’m interested to hear your priorities for your car and hence what led you to the conclusion that a Taycan was the best solution, rather than a 992?

I’m looking for a white 992 too, just saving up after I bought the Taycan in Dec.
seems there are plenty of 992’s stock cars with the dealers, expecting a steep discount buying cash out of their stock though. Thinking of 100-120k Carerra buy price, maybe this Xmas. But it would be complementary, weekend and worship not daily driven. It also doesn’t need to be super fast, Taycan caters for that, just agility and show :)

I do experience though that the Taycan is a bit too exotic to be a full daily. It’s bigger than most parking spots, it’s low and you need to be mindfull with the lift, it triggers envy’s where I’m not always a 100% comfortable leaving it parked in public. Never had that with my W213 Merc.

Not sure if the same in NL, but in UK, cash does not always get you favourable price/discounts, finance does as it’s another revenue line same as trade-ins. Know a few who got great deals with selling their own trade-in privately, took finance and cleared it within 3 months (not all finance work favourable and devil is in the small print ?)

We think alike, with one small change. I prefer the 991.1 GT3 as I still have over 2-1/2 years on my factory engine warranty. The 2018 991.2 and most likely the 2019 is now out of warranty.

I certainly understand the logic (I owned a 991.1 GT3 from new between 2014 and 2021), the only things I’d say is that the 991.1 engine has a known issue on some engines (hence the need for the Porsche warranty), whereas this is not the case on the 991.2 GT3.

Further, I’d only be buying a car from an OPC with full warranty anyway!

With EVs, you're buying technology. Obsolescence and technological advances will come into play, causing steep depreciation. Not sure what your MSRP is, but 35K over 2.5 years isn't bad. That's probably comparable to what it would have cost to lease the car.

If you’re buying through a company don’t forget you’ll get stuffed on Benefit In Kind tax on a 992 where EVs are currently 1% (so is it 2% now)

GT3 and GT3 RS of course hold their value. Carreras depreciate just like Taycans.
keep the Taycan
