help...

The right hand charge port is being reported as open when it is not.

This means I cannot use the LHS port which is the CCS port in the UK. If I open it the car reports charging not possible.

The issue is I am 1,200 miles from home in Southern Spain. Without CCS charging getting home will be difficult.

Any advice appreciated

There are a no. of variants on this - in my case (in dealership now) the PCM reported being unable to use DC charging but this was in fact due to the LHS AC port door not closing i.e. the RHS (US Spec RHD car) was perfectly fine.

1) assume you tried the 'shut the car down and walk away for 40 minutes' trick?

2) Hopefully someone else can confirm but in an emergency I believe you can pul the mechanical chord to 'force open' an electric charge door and supposedly it will make it available and to use - possibly overriding the fault you have? - again need confirmation here and of course not sure if you then have to leave it open but could tape over when driving so at least you'd have access to DC charging on way home. No idea if this will clear the fault you are experiencing though.

3) Only other thing I can think of right now would be to reset (two finger salute) the PCM and see if that clears anything and if not there may be a sensor issue which is another deal altogether!

Best of luck.

At the moment it is charging @10kw using the hotel's free AC charging. I'll leave the car overnight and see if it clears.

If not I will head to the nearest dealer.

Anyone any experience of Porsche Marbella or Porsche Malaga?

I had almost the same issue and it resolved by itself when locking the doors & going away for a couple of minutes.

So presumably the right charge port door is now open since you are charging. When you stop charging, I would look carefully to see if there is anything preventing the door from fully closing. If it is fully closed then it must be the sensor that tells it that it is fully closed not working. You could try the opening the left door with the pull cord. Probably a trip to the dealer is the best option if there is one close by.

The powered charge port doors can be recalibrated similarly to the power windows. @caslca mentions in this post that the charge port doors recalibrate after disconnecting and reconnecting the 12 volt battery. Perhaps you can also initiate the recalibration by pulling and replacing the fuse for the power charge port doors. Check the Taycan manual: according to my manual, driver's footwell fuse box Row B Fuse 3 is for charge port doors on right-hand drive vehicles.

I haven't tried it, but suspect with both ports open from the car's point of view, the car will throw an error and refuse to charge, but might be worth a try. Not doing this would be a safety issue, since all AC pins are connected on both sides, if the car was to enable the Level 2 charger, the other port would suddenly have live power pins, which is the reason why they don't let you open both charge ports in the first place.

update...

Spoken with Porsche Marbella - waiting to see if the car will recovered back to the UK.

We are also mulling over driving home with AC charging only. Thankfully I spec'ed a 22kW charging option so with rebooking extra hotel stops this may be possible

In the US, I had the same issue with the left charging door report as being open. The only resolution was having my dealer replace the left charging door.

i Should add to my response above, take it a Porsche dealership to get it fixed.

another observation...
The OPC suspect it might be a sensor failure which is a reasonable suspicion. However neither charging doors will lock. I am wondering if the fuse for charging ports has blown.

Has anyone any experience with checking/changing fuses on RHD Taycans?

Powered or manual charge port? Are both of them unlocked (you are able to open both at the same time)?

manual - ironically I skipped the powered ones because I thought there would be less to go wrong.
And yes I can open both at the same time

Did you try pulling and replacing the charge port door fuse to initiate the door calibration process as I posted above? Really curious to know if that works.
