UPDATE: I've just pulled the trigger on a Taycan 4S. See page 2

I've test-driven both the EQE (350+ version) ...
Have you checked the trunk size? I test drove the made in China version of the EQE with slightly larger battery. Basically cannot fit a single golf bag into it...

I think the Benz'es are still on 400 volts.
That won't do. Overheats to fast.
They peak at 170kW and actually have a very good charging curve, so I think this is ok. One thing that isn't really ok though is that they don't have a heat pump. I think that was a miss on their part. EVs that don't have a frunk are a bit of a pet peeve for me as well (which is weird b/c I literally never use it on the Taycan... I just like knowing it's there ?)

Merc’s are pretty boring.

Wouldn’t mind riding in one but driving one is another story.

Well actually no ? I did rate it very generously ?
On a serious note, I think Mercedes EQE and EQS have a serious design problem. And it may be a bigger problem than you might realize. Normally my threshold for looks is somewhat low, I like most modern performance/luxury cars especially from German brands. Rarely looks alone is a dealbreaker for me. However somehow Mercedes screwed up pretty bad with electric sedans. Feels like aerodynamic priorities overruled all common sense and f-ed up the design language & proportions. Now this AMG model you are interested somewhat hides the hideousness with sporty accents, diffuser, tires etc. maybe to a degree you can live with it. However I think this problem could be bigger than that as it could have an impact on the depreciation for the entire family (and your AMG will be impacted inevitably). Mercedes USA is already offering hefty discounts on brand new EQSs, because, I think simply the cars are ugly. Separate from looks, I also think EQE (and EQS) both have a significant ergonomics problem. Their front belt-line is disproportionately high and the absurdly high dashboard is blocking the very aggressively angled front wind-shield, making it one of the worst cars in terms of front visibility (an area where Taycan amazes me, just like a 911, which in my opinion adds to the driving pleasure).

Quite surprised to read one comment only about how ugly is the Merc EV line in general and the EQE in particular.
The Amg kit makes it look like a fat man going to the gym.
At this tag price, Look is paramount.
With 150km commute I wouldn’t esitate to pick the Taycan. Many opportunities as well in Portugal to drive B roads and enjoy the drive.

Have you tried posting this on a Merc EQE forum to see the general theme of (Merc forum) members reactions? ?

I’m not surprised the overwhelming response here is “go Taycan” …
and as Vim says, the specifics of matrix table and weighting is fine just to ‘whet’ the thought processes, but the decision is ultimately “90% emotive” … so buy the darn Porsche! ?

I was planning to do it to have a “balance” on answers ? even tho this EQE is not unanimous at all even for Merc fans. Just because I’m curious I’ll do it ?

I've been searching for the perfect car for the past few months, and unbelievably, I've just came across TODAY to an incredible deal on a 2021 Taycan 4S with only 150 miles and below my budget on the Porsche site. The offer seemed too good to be true, making me wonder if there was some sort of error. However, I didn't hesitate and took the leap almost immediately. Let's see if it happens!

So, it looks like I'll be soon a member of the Taycan family!

BOSE® Surround Sound System
Sports Chrono Package
air suspension
panoramic roof
ParkAssist front and rear including reversing camera and surround view
LED matrix headlights
Adaptive cruise control including Porsche Active Safe
Performance Battery Plus

Congratulations on pulling the trigger and getting that 4S! IMHO the Sports Chrono and Adaptive Cruise Control are “Must Have” options along with the Big Battery. Well done sir!

I’ve owned 5 ICE Mercedes including an S-Class. My Taycan Turbo is my second Porsche.

I agree that the Mercs are boring. Once you go Porsche you’ll never go back to anything else - - especially if the Porsche is a Taycan.

havjng owned both I can objectively say you should get the Taycan IFthe driving experience is important to you. Nothing compares to the thrill of driving a Taycan.
