Hey guys,

I'm planning to buy a Taycan but saw many comments about the PCM having like 30 fps and the navigation looks like it's from the 2008 year haha.

Is that true? If so will there be changes about this in the new 2024 taycans?

First msg, first thread - smells of Troll :)
I’m not a troll, I’m really planning to buy a Taycan it’s just that I saw 1-2 videos on Youtube about the PCM having like 30 FPS like it’s not smooth at all.

Anyway if you guys say that it’s not that bad then thanks for the asnwers!!

Success with PCM is easy:

(1) try to use it, get confused;
(2) try to read the manual, get more confused;
(3) search the forum, get some, but not all, questions answered; and then
(4) ask someone here and realize how far you were off, but at least now you know . . .

Then comes an update and you start over . . .

welcome to Porsche - that's not how they operate

buy the car based on how it is when you drive it off the lot and be happy - or not. But expecting them to "change" a product they already sold you is not in their DNA.

good luck.

Who has time to look at PCM while running from the police at 242km/h?

Jokes aside.

Early pcm software "appeared" to be slower and laggier from what I've seen in YouTube videos. I have the latest and it's fine. It's not at ryzen 9 32 core level but it's not laggy.

Regarding the map, it's classic. It matches the car and it pre heats the battery according to planned charging along a route which you don't get with other solutions.

Personally i use waze mainly because of the dynamic route adjustment and police / hazard warnings.

I wouldn't chose a Porsche based on its pcm though. If that was my main point I probably buy a tesla or just a tablet and a lifetime uber subscription.

As a long time P-Car owner, I think Porsche has lost it's way. When folks care more about the PCM than the drive, all is lost.

I'm not sure where that's coming from. For example, I'm not sure where it's evident that folks care more about the PCM than the drive. People don't complain about the drive, because the drive is fantastic. They complain about the PCM for various (good) reasons, because there is reason to complain. None of this means that the PCM is more important than the drive, to anyone.

PCM is fine. I have a new car and it’s perfectly good. Nowhere near the horrors I was expecting. Yes it’s a bit rubbish at times but so was my 2year old BMW and it’s way better than my 2 year old Volvo.
