Another forum member recommended this. It doesn’t smell like new car but it smells like new leather. It works amazingly well.

I use the Porsche leather conditioner now, because this has no gloss effect but keeps the leather mat (don’t know if that is the right word). How is that with this product? I saw I can order it in Germany.

I have not noticed any gloss effect at all with Zaino.

When I was looking for a cleaner, I specifically was looking for something recommended that kept the leather "mat". That was super important to me, I didn't want any gloss at all. Many people said Zaino was great and kept the leather mat so I ordered it and haven't looked back. I use it on all my cars.

Leather conditioner = Snake Oil.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake_oil

Rub this on to your exterior body work and tell me if it conditions the paint....

No? Because modern automotive leather is painted. It's not porous in any way. All youre doing is rubbing on a sticky layer that sits on top and attracts more dust and oils etc.

Use a cleaner. I recommend Dr Leather Wipes. They smell great too, or better yet, steam clean the leather every few months to restore that new-look matte finish and stop the leather from getting saggy.

Leather conditioners only benefit open-pore finishes such as dyed (rather than painted) leather.

OP here: I have Zaino and love the look but don’t care for the smell! Maybe I should try it again.

Recommend the use of an air freshener for the smell. Modern car leather does not benefit from a conditioner. A light duty cleaner and protectant (ceramic) is best to keep them in great condition.

I have long used Leatherique:

http://www.leatherique.com/

It's the only thing I use on any full Aniline leather. The standard (non-Olea) coated leather on the Taycan is quite different, and probably more forgiving, so you could use other good cleaners as well. I'll still try my trusty Leatherique when it comes time for the first cleaning. And I'll think about a ceramic-style leather coating, which is a new concept for me.

BTW, it's a myth that coated leather can't benefit from a conditioner. The standard Porsche coated leather is water resistant, not waterproof, and thus a water-based leather conditioner can penetrate and do some good. For new leather, probably not much good, and I'd focus on just the cleaner, but as the leather gets older, conditioning gets more important.

I've used leatherique on my 97 993 and it's useful to bring back old/cracked leather; IMO definitely not worth the hassle or mess for a newer car.

Also bear in mind that the leather is perforated, so I like to think that the conditioner is absorbed through the walls of the perforations. One day I will replace the leather to find that the backing foam is caked in leather conditioner. :)
