I agree with you that it’s hard to notice it if you don’t know what you are listening out for. But once you hear the squeal it’s hard to unhear it :headbang:
The more I listen, the more I am getting convinced that everything sequels a bit if you listen too hard haha at least rest assured it doesn't mean that car is faulty =)

I have driven dozens of different of electric cars, none of the make this noise. What else squeals on the car other than possibly brakes?

Hmm, I guess any part that can move has a potential to make noises, so probably many. But that is not the point, the point is how irritating that noise is to an individual. I must admin I am indifferent to that noise and I am glad Porsche reassured that it is ok.

I am in no way advocating for Porsche btw, I had a few arguments with them on a different matter haha

I have been experiencing this very annoying sound. Once you notice the sound it gets entrenched in eternal annoyance o_O. It happens when driving at low speeds under light acceleration or light regen braking between speeds of 15-35kmph. The Porsche tech in my country “can’t hear it” so I’ve shared this video with them as well, but wanted a crowd sourced diagnosis in case the techs say it’s “normal” and I have to escalate this matter with Porsche MIDDLE EAST. I’ve managed to take a video of the issue. You may need to turn up the volume, it’s a high pitched sound when the car is moving.
I just got a reply from Porsche service that the noise is coming from the rotor and it is totally normal…Also I was told that all of the taycans have the same noise but some make more noise depending on the temperature, recuperation on/off etc.
They said it could be fixed in the future by Porsche ( They have contacted Germany few months ago) but no solution right now because it is normal and few customers come with this issue… Actually I’m relieved that it is normal and even heard the same noise by a 4S passing by me today:)…So I decided not to worry about it and continue to enjoy driving it:)..

Being RWD mine only has one motor. I’m fairly sure this comes from the motor, a bearing or a gear whine. The noise is not evident when coasting. However at low speed (under 30mph) power on and power off (regen?) then the high pitched whine appears. I can live with the sound I think providing it doesn’t get worse and I can imagine others might not object to electric motor whine however my concern is that this must be a symptom of a part out of tolerance or inaccurate installation that will eventually give rise to major mechanical problems.

Similarly, a turbo S passed me on the street this morning making the exact same squeaking noise as my CT 4s at low speeds.

I guess the best thing to do is not to worry about it at all?

I try to ignore it now. But when I can't, I accelerate fast and brake hard. That fixes it. ?

is there a pattern to which cars have this sound or is it completely random?

So is it the inverter or rotor?

It is interesting that the noise only occurs in the speed range where the pedestrian warning sound is active (up to about 30 kph / 19 mph; citation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_vehicle_warning_sounds).

Hypothesis: some failure or mis-install of EMI filtering/shielding is permitting inverter EM/RF noise to affect the pedestrian warning noise generator.

Method to test hypothesis: remove power to the pedestrian noise generator (pull fuse or disconnect power harness) and see if the high pitch noise goes away. Restore power to the pedestrian noise generator and confirm that it is functioning when coasting at low speed, but without the high pitch noise.
My ‘motor’ whine is obvious at low speed and only occurs with breaking regen or acceleration not when coasting I believe

Glad to hear it's something as "normal" because it certainly doesn't seem normal when I look at my wife's face when she hears that noise on a 150k$ car. ?

Exactly. I have also noticed this in a parking garage. If you toggle regen off, the noise stops. It seems to only be when a tiny amount of regen is in play.

The best way to describe it is to look up "computer GPU coil whine" for those that have trouble hearing very high frequency noises.

That electrical inductor coil whine is what this sounds like. It is absolutely NOT a brake rotor squeal. Some folks on this thread reporting that are hearing a different sound that is actually way lower in frequency. The regen whine is around 10-11 kHz in frequency, whereas most brake whine is much lower - closer to 1-2 kHz.

Same issue with a Taycan 4S 2021 - 10k km... No news from Porsche when I sent them a video last week.
