You have to allow the Intelligent part to take over charging. Set your charger to 'plug and charge' (ie like a dumb charger) and remove any profiles on the car except the Enode one (this is what Octopus sets up on the car).I can't get my head round it, it seems I set timers/profile in car/app with intelligent charging, often the intelligent charging will go beyond the preferred charging profile set, when it does this it seems to completely overwrite the timers/profile. There is a profile called "Enode" I changed this to "Home" and it changed it back to Enode. Can't help thinking octopus is somehow overwriting profiles/timers? Not the end of the world but have to reset timers everyday. Would switching off intelligent charging work and just set timer for 11.30pm-5.30am in car?
When you plug the car in, it may start to charge. But Octopus will detect this (if it's in the non-cheap rate period - 11.30pm to 5.30 am in my case) and stop the charge (so you don't pay at the higher rate).
Keep an eye on the Octopus app. After about 5 minutes it will send you a note saying it has mapped your charge for the off peak period.
Note Octopus say the 11.30pm-05.30am window is the time that we can aim to Smart Charge your car within. Smart Charging often results in multiple charges throughout the evening, with some charges happening outside the off-peak window (don’t worry, as long as you don’t bump charge you’ll always be on the off-peak rate).
