All the shortcuts work in my car including massage on/off, ambient lights on/off and/or color changes, setting cabin temp etc. etc. - the AC temp seems to default to a 4F jump up or down as voice selected (don't see an option as yet to adjust this but thats fine) - very responsive with SIRI so might actually start using this more than I thought I would!

@vroomer
Mine defaults to black also so a bit baffled as to how yours is white - checked customization options for widths on my phone but consul not see an option to have dark vs light background etc. - possibly some other custom setting in there?
Currently I have light and Dark mode on the phone based on sunrise and sunset. When I toggle the setting it changes to white for Daytime. Are using shortcuts in CarPlay or through your phone

Only tested in the car with CarPlay as yet and all seem to work simply using 'Hey Siri' and no button presses.

This appears to be new also in iOS. Don’t know if it does anything yet on the Taycan… mine errors out.

Interesting but mostly useless command set. The only useful one might to be pre-condition (turn on climate control) when not in the car, though increase/decrease temperature is useless since you don't know the current setting unless you are in the car where you can do it with one click of a control which is always on the screen. Same for massage seat control. Changing ambient lighting is a gimmick. No display controls like HUD which actually might be useful while driving and not wanting to take your eyes off the road to dig through menus to control it.

Whenever I see these kinds of features being added, I realize engineering companies have completely lost the concept of user experience design. The constant notification on the PCM about new map (fragment) having been installed is a great example - why interrupt the driver with a popup and a ding to tell them that many times during a trip? There is no action the driver can take based on this, it is generally a useless piece of information. Maybe if the maps are not loading due to some issue, sure, pop up an error message, but multiple, disruptive success messages are just an engineering design lacking any user experience consideration (yes, I get that the guy who coded it likes to know every time map updates, but that is a debug functionality, not driver functionality - this is no different than if the car gave you a popup every time it auto adjusted the screen brightness "PCM screen adjusted from 89% to 88% brightness due to light changes" or "AC compressor turned off as temperature reached target value", etc, etc).

You can also directly specify a temperature, apparently.

It’s generally worth noting that shortcuts are not just voice commands, they’re also building blocks for Apple‘s automation programming language through the „Shortcuts“ app. So you could do things like turn off the A/C when reaching home.

The A/C one I will use myself, since I always want to turn the A/C on only when necessary. (I much preferred the Boxster there which had an explicit „A/C off“ button.) Don‘t know if anything else is useful yet…

@Administrator, I appreciate the threads being merged, but why use the title of the old thread? I opened the new thread exactly in order to also talk about the other features, which are the dominating topic in this thread right now.

Also, the much more useful release notes are now much further down the thread (after some useless talk about „was the widget always available“… no, it’s new with the update). Wouldn’t it be better to attach the old thread to the new one?

Aren’t you guys worried that the widget would be too chatty? (Phone -> Porsche backend -> car, and return)

It has crossed my mind… though on the upper right, the widget shows how old the status is. I’m currently *in* the car, so it says 2 minutes ago, but it would be interesting to see if it just polls every few hours or less if nothing is happening (and the App itself isn’t opened). Maybe the widget knows when it’s worth polling the car by only performing API calls to a Porsche server first, or when it was last seen over Bluetooth, or stuff like that. It would be possible at least.

Right now my widget is showing the last data from 4 hours ago.

Had occurred to me also but based on this report there seems to be some control - perhaps related to freq of use of the app vs the widget?

Yes, I enabled it (briefly) and noticed the same. Then I disabled it, because I find the info to be a bit useless, and the widget takes way too much screen space. Nifty, though.

Agreed and having the Electric Sidecar app with iPhone locked screen info along with the Watch app I def don't need it either.
