I did speak to someone at octopus who seemed to suggest I couldn’t move to go either without the ev there to test but she didn’t sound like she knew for sure… I’ll look to do that, thanks
Ah we’ll forget about asking customer service! the switch to go seems to have been fine doing it online. Looks like I can keep my 15p export fixed too (though that should not matter as I’ll be sticking it into the battery instead). Intelligent meant I’d need to move the SEG first

I am pretty sure you can’t keep the 15p export on either Go or Intelligent. That will disappear soon. Otherwise you could charge a battery overnight then discharge it in the day and make a profit

Trying to move to intelligent online stops me saying my export tariff isn’t supported.. the online journey for go didn’t… go figure.
They’ll probably realise soon enough as you say

Hi , I have recently taken up the Eon Drive deal, it is certainly not as cheap as the Octopus prices but has made a big difference to how I charge my car, I have solar but now have no pressure to charge during the day ( I am retired) we use solar to run the house and washing etc. At 9.5 p from 12 to 7 charging and running the car is cheap. I find I am more likely to drive my car instead of the wife’s now and don’t worry about economy. As winter approaches the benefits will be even greater. Not sure if Eon Drive are dropping their prices with the new energy price guarantee coming in October?

Thats pretty good. I ended up going with octopus today after doing some calculations with all three providers. It was between Ovo and octopus. But octopus works out a few pound cheaper than both per month which adds up for me over a year.

Certainly these over night tariffs make a huge difference. When I first ordered a Taycan I was paying a flat rate of 12p. By the time I got it the company had gone bust and I was paying something like 25p which promptly went up to 35p with no deals around. So coming down to charging at 7.5p drops my electricity cost per mile to something like 3p/mile - which is what people need to see if they are to adopt them

Update on Octopus Intelligent. From the end of this week the export tariff will go up to 15p/kWh. So I could charge overnight at 7.5p and send it back at 15p in the day. Not sure it’s worth the bother but will certainly pay a bit more for surplus solar. At least it will next summer

That sounds really promising but I thought they won’t pay you you export on the Intelligent tariff? Has that now changed?

My understanding is that you can only have the bog standard SEG export tariff (at 4.1p/unit) on Go and Intelligent. I am on ECO7 to be able to export at 15p.
