  • Yes, for the firefighters, i.e., so that others do not join my charred body once the battery burns.

I originally got my EV plates thinking that without, I might have issues taking advantage of EV parking. But if I were to do it again I think I would go for regular plates. In another five years I think EV plates will look dated - like when all EVs had to have dayglo blue/green accents just to emote ELECTRIC.

Voted No, don't find any of the above reasons compelling enough to bother as the closest fit, though actually opted against EV colour flashes for the same reason I debadged and have monochrome wheel hub covers.

In China, the government issues a green plate for all EVs. Standard blue for ICE.

It comes with a few perks, such as being able to drive in other provinces city roads at all times etc.

No restrictions whatsoever in terms of where the EV can be driven.

In the UK the green flash comes as standard though you can ask the supplying dealer to fit regular plates or change them afterwards.

As I've stated on another thread I honestly believe they act as a theft deterent from thieving scumbags who actively avoid EV's unless on a very specific steal to order. And most of those go the the gulf states which have not exactly embraced EV for obvious reasons (though this is changing) hence a Range Rover 10mpg mega petrol V8 or whatever being stolen ever 3 seconds (I made the last bit up).

My dealer fitted a plate without the green flashes and I had no feelings about it in particular. It looks cleaner that way. The thing I'd have liked to have was the UK identifier (for potential EU road trips, not any kind of national pride), but they'd ordered plates before I asked, so again "Meh" ?‍♂

I couldn't see how to get a vanity EV plate in GA. It had too few letters for what I wanted anyway.
Might have overcompensated though with VLTSWGN (on a GTS Sport Turismo) ?
I tried for something related to DieselGate, but appeared to all be taken ?‍♂

I would love to have the Europe Flag and GB like we did before we were lied to and the gullible voted to take us out of the EU… meanwhile green flash with home stuck on EU flag.

Yep agreed. If I could have, I’d have had an EU flag tbh. I deliberately got one on the personalised plates on my last car, as we were just still in the EU then.

Don’t do vanity plates I’m afraid but good on you for the EU flag!

Here in Arizona USA the standard or vanity EV plate (a.k.a. cloud plate) permits solo drivers to use the HOV lanes. Very handy for my frequent trips to Phoenix Sky Harbor airport during morning rush hour!

I think an EV plate permits others to vandalize your car in Missouri. I haven’t double checked the law. Just basing it on how things typically work here.
