Hi,

I'm a relatively new member to this forum and have just taken delivery of a new Taycan 4S with Battery performance plus, but really surprised to see a range of only 220 miles when fully charged - I got more from my iPace. The Salesperson assures me the range will climb as I put more miles on the car and it gets to know my driving patterns.

I'm more than a little concerned.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks,

Don’t panic… =your dealer is correct.

Mine 4S started at 220… and now 2,500 miles later is showing around 260… even though the weather is turning and getting colder.

I even got to see 270 (on a full 100% charge) about a month back - I had a long trip so charged it to 100% overnight and next day was surprised to see 270.

83.7 kWh usable battery capacity. At 110-120 km/h (Swedish highway speeds) I usually get around 23-25 kWh/100km which calculates to around 330-360 km of range, aka 205 - 224 miles of range.

Granted I have a Turbo S with 21" tyres, so you should probably get a bit more range in a 4S and more efficient tyres.

Edit: To add some more data, I have however done a few drives to work where I have hovered around 21.8 kWh/100km -> 384km = 239 miles. It's a mixed drive of both 50 km/h roads and 100 km/h roads, with an average speed of 60-65 km/h. Had I put it in range mode and driven a bit smoother, I would probably get a bit over 400 km of range in those cases.

To me, it however rarely matters what range you get at low speeds since then you probably aren't far from home anyway. What matters is the typical range I get on the highway on longer trips where I will actually need to use the full range of the car.

When we took delivery of ours the calculated max range (guessometer divided by the charge percentage) was about 205 miles. 800 miles later it's about 230 miles. It's going up slowly even as the temperatures are going down.

Personally I prefer the pessimistic guess. I like knowing that if the charger is 180 miles away and the car says it has 200 miles of range I'll be able to reach it.

Thanks all - I will keep a close eye on it over the next month or so and hopefully it will improve. I do agree with the sentiment that I'd prefer a conservative / pessimistic view.

Entirely dependent upon how you drive. Drive fast everywhere and on lots of higher speed roads, you’ll get 215-225. Drive slower and on more lower speed roads and you’ll get 250.

See below. Go on your app, trip data, select total. See the average speed? That’s what matters. High 30s, expect 210-220. Mid 20’s, expect 250.

Oh and ignore the number below it, as it materially overstates actual range.

It’ll take more than a month to adjust to your actual driving.

New car pheeewwww always accelerating, demoing launch control to friends etc.
As time passes you naturally get lighter on the pedal and range increases…
(I am still in the 1st phase vruuummmmm)

New Taycans don't benefit from regenerative braking until the car senses a certain amount of friction braking induced energy has occurred. As a result, there's a significant range penalty during the first thousand miles or so.

If you want to speed this process along, find a safe place you can perform multiple reasonably aggressive stops from 60-70 m.p.h. Once your regenerative braking becomes functional, you'll see a range increase. I'd expect at least 250 miles from a 4s, and probably closer to 300, as we've seen well over 270 on the highway in our Turbo.

Welcome to the forums, and Taycan ownership.

Wow - that's really encouraging!
