I just received notice that my Porsche Connect free-trial expires at the end of October. I'm able to renew at a price of $319/Yr or $26.60/mo. I get it, we all own an expensive car, but is it just me or does the Porsche Connect app seem a little expensive for what it offers? You can control everything that the app does from inside the car or am I missing something?

I agree with you that this carries the extra Porsche tax, and a lot of it.
It is more than just the app though. You will loose a lot of connections like Apple Music, Spotify, traffic information, online radio etc.

Is it worth it??
Try without for some time and if you use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, you might not miss much. And they are much better anyhow.

I think without Porsche Connect you lose the ability to pre-cool/heat the car remotely which depending on your climate is a major feature of an EV for many people.

The Tesla community went mental when they were charged 9.95/month which seems WAY more reasonable than Porsche’s price. Especially as Porsche seem unable to deliver a continuously stable online service for the app at present.
Couldn't agree more

Still works without the connect subsription.?

To me, the most annoying missing feature is not being able to see current SoC and if/how fast currently charging in the app and you cannot start/stop charging remotely without the subscription.

In the UK (at least), without the Connect subscription you won't be able to use OVO's Charge Anytime tariff as that is dependent on the car telling OVO how much electricity is being used to charge the car - this was a deal breaker for me as OVO was best for my needs.

I also agree the cost is entirely out of proportion with the service you get with the subscription but damn it is a Porsche and we all knew what we were getting into when we bought our Taycans!

So why could we not just use the EMEI for the car to switch service to our own carrier. Wouldn't it keep that connection open for updates, etc? I am assuming, maybe incorrectly, that is what we are actually paying for. Be nice to know as I still have a year to go lol.

Not sure where I got my EMEI, but I do have it.

Doesn't the Taycan still come with three years of included Porsche Connect service? And it wasn't described as a "free trial", but as three years of included service, similar to the included three years of EA charging sessions.

You don't lose Apple Music after Porsche Connect expires.

A bit pricey for me because the app doesn't work on a consistent basis. I'm not a Tesla fan, but I never had app connection issues with the Model 3..

Oh than maybe I just experienced a day of bad connectivity in general. I have had some trouble with the car and its connection again lately ??

I be;ieve the network they use in France is SFR and it is quite lousy where I live and normally drive. Porsche Probably got a very cheap deal

Do I wish it was cheaper on an annual basis? Yes. Do I plan to renew it next year when I hit the 3-year Mark? Yes.

I value all the charging planning and remote access features, the latter which I use every day.

Look, replacement tires are way more than this fee, and at some point I plan to move to the "refreshed" model (assuming they also adopt NACS, otherwise that bet is off). At that point the 3-year clock resets.

As I drive the 4S mainly during winter, I left the 'Porsche Connect' renewal undone over half year ago. After this:
- the very flimsy connectivity from app or web stopped totally. No SoC, remote timers or location etc. available
- map updates stopped
- voice navigation stopped
- no Spotify without USB or BT
- no news or weather forecast (does someone use these?)
Was this a problem? During summer - No.
- In Android Auto 'HERE We Go' maps is better
- Spotify works well with BT and USB
- charging at home with timer works as normal

However as the winter has started I decided to throw 320 € to have the connectivity - which now works a bit better..
- can heat the car when needed to start from cold which in here may mean anything from 0 C to -42 C
- can see if the car decides to show 90% charge when demanded to have 100% in the morning - saying SoC can't be reached. Reason not known! 11 kW 400V 16A AC charging
- have possibility to pre-heat the battery for DC charging via Nav as the battery temperature during easy winter driving can be -15 C and fast charging is no more fast

In here we have the so called 'Normal winter weather' and ca. 10 cm of snow.

I get that a lot. The last three times I’ve set a timed charge it has completely failed to fire the timer, so when I get to the car it still has the 85% that it does every night.
