Some observations. I had a test drive in a iX 50. Great acceleration but just nowhere near the driving fun of my 4 CT. I don’t think many cars will come close. Together with the fast charging speed. I will still keep the CT.

But the reliability is an issue.

Would also be nice to be able drive 350 km between winter highway trips like the iX. But those trips are only 3 times a year.

had it chat today with a secondhand car dealer I know well. He can give me 75 k for my almost 2 year old 135 k CT 4. He is a bit reluctant to buy Taycans. He knows the problems and doesn’t really want to put his good name one the line. Fixes can only be done by Porsche and take a long time. Determining a price for EV is difficult. They change quickly. He can only guarantee this price for a week. He had 4 Taycans and sold 3. The last one he is driving him self but last week the charger failed.

I have a Taycan Turbo. As much as I love the driving dynamics and power, I miss typical luxury features such as softer seats, easy entry and exit, soft-close doors and beautiful materials. The PCM UI has been simple and reliable since day one, and overall build quality has been great I also love the frunk space that fits lots of small things. And even though I don't drive long distances (have Panamera for such trips), I still keep my eye on the battery state-of-charge too often especially now in winter.

But I miss the luxury and latest tech such as phone key, ability to move the car with the app and better winter range.

Agreed, I wouldn’t mind a bit more luxury

I experienced idrive 8.5 in the iX and it is miles further than our current PCM version.

Software yes. But I really don’t like that curved screen in new BMW’s. I prefer for example the pre facelift version of 3 and X5.

That is the luxury I “miss” in the Taycan. I would prefer nice premium buttons for climate control, etc. Like the Panamera.

After i accidentally dinged my door the first time. i thought about. just get a different car. but there is no real upgrade for this car. i think that when i do get rid of this car. if i "upgrade" would be a 911 and if i am unlucky to not afford a 911 and lucky to score a BYD seagull. go back to basics with a Seagull. instead of point to nowhere like i4 or polestar 2, etc.

Update: i forgot that i love the new Dacia Duster. That is my dream new car

It doesn’t look that good in pictures but irl it does look nice. I agree about the buttons. But on the other hand I hardly ever change AC settings and even temperature. It still does have some short cut buttons.

How about this answer: I love my wife's CT4S so much, I want my own... in crazier color, and I would just add RWS and track the $hit out of it.

I had my Taycan Turbo for over 3 years and I loved it, so I downgraded to the Turbo S ST last year The range has dropped by around 50 miles and I'm lucky to see 200 miles at 100%
I'm now thinking of moving back to petrol

I didn’t check before I ordered but I now see the estate car body shape has about 20% more drag than the saloon which will inevitably lead to poorer efficiency particularly cruising on long journeys.

Luckily I don’t do that often but it wouldn’t surprise me for anybody changing to the estate from saloon to be very disappointed to lose so much efficiency.

My CT range is adequate for me however and despite preferring the look of the saloon the estate car suits my requirements far better.

Have you determined whether your Turbo S battery's battery state of health is as good as your Turbo's battery?

I really enjoy my 2021 Base Taycan, but will not replace with new. I may buy at lease end in August, depending on used market value and after extended warranty pricing.

I have been researching the BMW I4 Xdrive E40. Properly spec'd this car is very close to the Taycan. It has a superior Driver Assistance function (as good as a Tesla Autopilot) and is plenty fast enough. It utilizes a hatchback Grand Coupe design and while sporty, is very practical. This car fully spec'd would be about $60-65K below a Taycan 4S spec'd nicely. Taycan entry price and the resultant depreciation is hard to ignore. Reviews on both the BMW base and 4WD are excellent and range is comparable, not to mention that they will be moving to the NACS spec this year with the 2025 MY.

I guess I am spoiled! I have been driving 911 and GT car variants for over 10 years and can't seem to embrace the huge depreciation hit of the Taycan. IMHO, the car is great but not worth the total cost over a three year ownership period. A well spec'd 4S with an OTD price of $140k will cost after three years at least $73k (including a set of tires and mandatory Mx). Its good but not that good!

I do wonder about that differential - assume the number extracted from a Porsche article?

I ask as I suspect there may be an equal measure of climate impact involved in respect magnitude as my CT gets far higher 'guessometer' predictions than 200 miles of range. - and I dive overall very inefficiently in respect speed, short trips, 21" tires etc. Real world consumptive values also far higher than this but of course I am in a very hot climate that aids in range but not so much in Soh!

Here is a plot of the 'guessometer' predictions from my PCM with seasonal variations that change by approx. 10% (we essentially have two seasons here in Houston, hot and not sot hot :)!) - mind you we will be in the 20'sF over next few nights and mid-30's by day so do have a wee bit of winter!

Note: Curves just hand drawn (not an actual polynomial!) bracketing the min-max predictions:

I took that 50k out of Tesla, put it in Money Market yielding 5+% and took out a 84 month loan at 3.8% from my local credit union.
Isn't that a net loss after you pay income tax on the Money Market yield?

It came from Porsche data on Cd and frontal area. Saloon Cd=0.22 with frontal area of 2.33 sqm and CT with Cd=0.26 with frontal area of 2.37 sqm

Edit my guessometer on my CT4S is around 270 miles in summer and 235 in winter fwiw.
