they did nothing other than the PCM update - and that appears to have "fixed" the problem…

Or the "deep" reboot part of the update did. So frustrating!
yeah I'm betting on the "deep reboot" that was part of the PCM update campaign…but it's fixed now and car is back online.

That's good to hear. I had so much of this with my early MY21 Taycan – but so far my MY23 Taycan has been rock solid in this (and every other) way. So much so, not sure I ever want to change it!

Is it component differences? Is it luck? Who knows?

I'm sorry to say this has happened to me two or three times as well (2020 model). Each time required a dealer visit...and I'm pretty sure they had to do a "full power down" to fix it - a Connbox reset was insufficient.
Same with me on 2020 Turbo, has happened at least three times requiring shop visit of a week or more. Once it was four weeks….

4 weeks to reset the car's computers? Did they disconnect the main batteries (HV and 12V) and then wait 4 weeks until the modem battery dies?

Most likely it was a "deep reboot", though technically could be some software version in your car out of sync with the cloud (cloud updated, your car hasn't for a while) or even some part of the car OTA updated while the other one didn't. Given Porsche software experience I would not be surprised if they only test on recent versions of stuff, never testing all possible mix-and-match firmware versions which could result in customers cars, especially older cars. I worked with a number of car manufacturers on OTA, and some of them are not willing to only update only to a known, tested combination of firmwares - part of it they try to minimize the amount of data transfer required for an OTA, and time to apply it, and chances of successful application. Some also strongly believe the different firmwares are 100% independent, which practically is rarely the case in today's complex systems. Another argument was "if customer applies updates regularly, they are not going to have very mismatched firmwares", which might be true until there is customer who doesn't apply updates for a while, car is parked out of internet reach for a while (or modem hangs), or some ECU update keeps on failing while the rest of the ECUs keep on updating. Tesla does OTA best, and their OTA's approach has been been (almost)all-or-nothing, meaning if you cannot update some part, you don't update any parts. This led to a trick some people used to block Tesla OTA, unplug one of the seat motor controllers - this makes every OTA attempt fail because the motor controller cannot be reached/updated.

in my case - sim status shows good bars and celluar network (Verizon) - in the case of Taycan you can't connect to home-wifi - so if the cellular connection is "wedged/hung" apparently it requires a dealer visit to "reset/restore" the modem's sanity…

it boggles my mind that…
  1. this requires a dealer visit
  2. it's a problem that doesn't fix itself will a full power down (disconnect the 12v battery)
  3. that it can come to this
  4. Porsche knows about it and has no apparent plans to 'fix' it
  5. that if my car was out of warranty they'd charge me to fix it
I'll provide details when I have them - as I said the next time I have to go to the dealer I'll be dropping my Taycan for this repair - I hope to visit the dealer sooner rather than later, but right now I'm in world wide shipping logistics hell so I have no idea when my opportunity to visit the dealer will present itself.

I lost LTE connection and was able to locate the “Control unit for wireless data transmission” fuse left lower driver side Row A slot 11. Removed it 10 minutes, replaced and LTE came back up in a few minutes. Mobile app updated with car info a few minutes later.

New to all of this, the car, Porsche in general, so pardon my question:

Before you took out the fuse, did you disconnect the battery? Or is that not necessary?

Thanks!

You would cut the circuit twice doing both if you see what I mean…
So no need to disconnect the battery. Removing the fuse is safer.

I guess this is one of the many issues the 2025 model won't have; since it no longer has 4 electrical circuits (12, 48, 400, 800v); and all components are now 800v.

I don’t think so!

They only dropped the 48v supply used for Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) as that functionality is now provided by the optional hydraulic Active Ride system.

Having EVERYTHING powered at 800v would be err, interesting (briefly).

I know this is an older post. I have the same not LTE connection (2 lines with slash thru them). I pulled the fuse in Row A Slot 11 (LHD 2021 Taycan) and left it out for an hour. Put it back in. No change in the LTE connection or the App.

I have a service scheduled for next week, but looking for any other ideas? I have read most of the posts and there was one that had two fuses pulled, but I could not find the other one. Will Disconnect the 12v when I get home tonight (at work so easy to pull the fuse). Thanks
