Sorry but out of an abundance of caution, would you mind to send a pic of this charger already installed against the wall with the NEMA plug shown in an outlet? Like the pic I posted earlier? Maybe you've done that and I missed it, but I've become an avid reader of your posts and pray to god you are a real person.
you can go "in" to the Tesla Wall Charger dock from the "top" "bottom" or from behind - the dock has several options for "knock outs" to run wires/cable - in this picture I've run the NEMA 14-50 "whip" that I ordered from Amazon through the bottom because the cable would "lay/curve" better - trying to force it into the top would've kinked the cable…

this is why you want as much length as possible - so that you can lay/route the power cable to match it's nature "bend" - the cable in this picture is the 10 ft model - and as you can see over 1/2 of the length is taken up…

this unit has been in operation this way since Oct. of 2022 - cable temperature is nominal and rarely above 105F during operation…

the power cable in this picture _IS_ - Cable Matters 4 Prong to 4 Wire Range Cord 10 ft, Heavy Duty 6/8 AWG 50 Amp Cord (NEMA 14-50P to 4-Wire)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084D28DTD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 - Ordered as shown below - I'm not making this crap up!!!

the blue one is hardwired - the only "NEMA" plug unit I have is the red one…

here is the "other side" of the garage - I'm a real human - no AI is as stupid or OCD as I am…

I have solar/battery - because we get a lot of outages where I live - all of my EVSE's are on a. separate 100 amp circuit that is _NOT_ backed up - I don't want my EV's charging overnight to drain my home batteries if the power goes out while I'm asleep

I have the following:
  • 3 Tesla Gen3 Wall Chargers sharing a 100/80 amp circuit (Blue, White, Red face plates)
    • Red unit is powered via a NEMA 14-50 outlet using the power supply cable we're talking about - picture above.
  • 1 Tesla Gen2 Wall Charger - 100/80 amp circuit - 19.2 kW NACS plug type
    • not to be used with _ANY_ other EVSE - I load manage this "manually"
  • 1 NEMA 14-50 socket - not battery/solar backed up - I use this to play/test mobile EVSE's - it's not load managed - so again I'm cautious when using it to have it be the only EVSE in use
  • 1 NEMA 10-30 socket that _IS_ part of the Solar/Battery home grid - so that if I choose during a power outage I can charge an EV when I have excess solar/battery power for extended outages

I guess I've been a bit out of the loop on this 'recall/refund' and TBH, don't really care that much as moved on from the Porsche debacle long ago.

That said, I've personally received nothing from Porsche on this ('22 model, Nov 2021 build) - should I have received a notice or is this only going out to specific model years? And apologies if answer in one of the linked threads but looking for quick answer :)!
Anyone?

How hot is too hot? We have the mobile charger running at 50% and at the very end of charging the temp of the Porsche mobile charger itself where the wall plug comes out of the top is 97 deg. The 240 plug is 72-74 and the cable is 70-72. Doesn’t seem concerning but this is our first EV so have no frame of reference.

Been reading reviews on others, Chargepoint, Wallbox and Grizzle E and they don’t look very good especially in more recent reviews.

This wall looks like one of my EE or SE employees or co-founders would have in their garage. Much respect.

I am looking right now at how I could do DC to DC. I have PV system that I specifically speced so I could do direct DC-DC down the road.

I have not received a notice, but when I contacted dealer service last week asking about any campaigns for my car, he said my 22 model had campaigns to replace one of the PMC+ cables, (he said cable is not available yet), and 1 to reprogram the thermal management control unit, WPS9.

Asking dealer for info about campaigns for my VIN > notices to me from Porsche.

Just got a recall notice from Porsche that my Porsche charger's 240 V cable will be replaced (someday)..in the meantime I can buy another charger and be re-imbursed up to $600. Interestingly, even tho the recall is tied to my car's VIN, that VIN does NOT show (yet?) as a recall on NHTSA site (perhaps because the car itself is not recalled?).

Anyway, I think I'll buy a charger (portable)(NEMA 14-50) .leaning towards a TESLA charger. Anyone have a recommendation?
I got the same notice in the mail. They did say to contact Porsche for recommendations on what chargers you should buy and they’ll reimburse you up to $600.

I'd be AMAZED if the dealerships have any decent advice on this matter. Anyway, I am planning to proceed with the @daveo4EV solution described in great detail above (and on other threads that he - or it - visits). Hope others will do the same that we can compare notes here.

I guess it depends on the relationship you have with your dealer. Porsche Redwood City is mine and great support always. I trust them. In fact someone came in behind me from another dealership saying they did t trust their dealer but wanted PRC to work on their car!

No disrespect intended to dealerships, I love mine, but there is often lag-time between when we learn of problems and when they learn of solutions. I wish they would monitor this forum, they would be more often on the same page with us.

I also believe they'd be reluctant to recommend non-Porsche products for fear of liability.

I went ahead and ordered the Tesla Universal Charger. We are pretty well invested here in Tesla (a model 3 and their solar battery), so I'm comfortable with that solution.
