Looks like our friends at Porsche have masterminded a new pricing structure for Taycan charging subscription.
It appears now as a monthly subscription at £29.99/month, with the following charges:

AC Charging - £0.54/kw then £0.20/min after 4 hours. DC charging £0.74/kw then £0.20/min after 60 minutes. At Ionity and Porsche dealers it is £0.39/kw and £0.20/min after 60 minutes.

The monthly charge seems outrageous - might be worth it in the month of an epic road trip though. Finally, they realized how embarrassing the pricing was at Porsche dealers from the loyalty perspective - it is now the same as Ionity....
There's poor value for money and then there's Porsche value for money!

Original contract is still the full 3 years though, even though it auto renews each year within that period?!

there’s no way I’m breaking to go on this. You’d have to have rocks in your head
It's free to change and will only kick in when your original 3 year period expires:

Cool. As long as they don’t try a wangle their way out at the end of year 2….

There’s no way on earth I’d go with that new tariff regime. As said rocks and head ??

I found the following in my service description today.

There seems to be 2 levels of the Charging service available now, Plus and Standard??? I have not seen this before.
There is one service with a cheaper subscription but higher kWh pricing.
Any odd else noted this?

Who in their sales and marketing teams dreams this stuff up? And who in their right mind will go with this scheme? (Maybe Porsche just want rid of it now?).

I've used 1x Ionity station thus far. The very most it could have saved me was £45, and in reality was around £20. Porsche dealer charging saves nothing other than a little convenience, a nice area for my kids to eat their lunch and a look at some nice cars for a few minutes.

£30 a month? No chance.

We need a startup that solves the issues with different tariffs and weird EV charging plans.

A friend had my car for two weeks, and before he left I thought I could explain him how charging works. I explained the tariff setup (so, you pay per kwh and time), and gave him 3!! different charging cards from different providers. And told him which one to use at which station. At that point he said, "why on earth would I want to buy an EV, this is too complex. I just want to go to a charger and charge and pay a normal "competitive" price like with my ICE car. Why can't I just pay with Apple Pay or any other debit card". That summed it up really good. It is a mess, and of course Porsche wants a big piece of that messy pie
Is it that different to petrol?

Do I use my Nectar card? Clubcard? Whatever Shell currently uses? Or any other loyalty scheme?

Do I fill up at £1.40 a litre? Or risk it and go to the next one or the next one and pay £1.25 or £1.69?

IME you can pay with them all using contactless if you need to. But I don't use public charging *that* often.

Where does this put a recent purchaser? My Taycan is 2-3 months old. I can stay on old contract? I like 30p ionity. It’s the only thing that makes me take out the porker on longish drives

If you have the contract with 3 free years subscription, I do not think that subscription part will change for you. That should still be valid as free. However the kWh pricing may be subject to change perhaps? Or it may only come into effect after the contract period, ie 3 years has expired. Will be interesting to see!

In switzerland both of those prices are bigger than current subscription. So why would anyone change to those unless forced?

At least here in switzerland, outside of ionity - which there's like barely any, the porsche charging was never worth it. There are much cheaper alternatives.

I advise everyone to use the Chargeprice app and check your most common dc chargers, and see what provider is cheaper and use their RFID card.

Also, you make "porsche charging launges"; and you ask your early adopters to pay to charge, and actually pay more than they would pay at a different provider? Damn, porsche has that good weed

Only in EU & UK. Outside, since they are not forced by law to offer it, you actually can't. Here in switzerland you have to have 50 apps and 50 RFID cards; or choose one that has good tarifs at most of the chargers like evpass

You mean there is a world outside of the UK? How very strange ?

Sounds like a nightmare.

The new model does seem unappealing.
Also, by removing time-based pricing it will encourage people to clog up shared chargers by taking their time (up to 59 minutes, when previously we might have stopped at 20) thereby increasing pressure on shared infrastructure.

It is such a mess with all these apps, tags etc. Who ever came up with that instead of using a debit/credit card. I looked briefly at the app you suggested and the price you can pay for a charge can vary by more than 100%!

I have seen the first movement to competition while driving in Sweden lately. One petrol chain advertise the price per kWh they charge on signs on the road! They were not the cheapest but it is a start. Their sign gave price for diesel, 93 and 98 octane fuel and kWh! Great initiative and you can easily see where there is a charging station.

And another €375 for tracking services (mandatory here in Ireland to get insurance).
Do you get anything else for the €375, does it cover data in the car for example? When I had a test drive Waze and Spotify were working away in android auto but wasn't sure if it was pulling the data from my phone or inbuilt car Sim.
It's 3yrs old next month i'm sure what I'll have to pay for besides extended warranty.

Hopefully picking it up Thursday in Dublin.

It just covers the monitored alarm service from Vodafone Automotive. There's no free trial or period with Porsche Vehicle Tracking Service Plus (PVTS+) and is separate to Porsche Connect or Porsche Charging Service. My insurer here in Ireland (CHUBB) requires a remotely monitored alarm service as part of its policy coverage terms.
