I set my charging profile to charge minimum 80%, but do I need to remove charging cable as soon as it hits 80%?

Or will the battery get damaged if I leave the charging cable on for a day or two while I am away?

No you can leave attached but in certain situations you may discover that the car then decides to continue charging until it reaches 100%.

I don't want to open the can of worms that is the great profile & timer debate on this forum but suggest testing over a 48 hr (at least 2 charging cycles) period to discover what to expect. If the car charges to 80% and then pauses / stops then great.

I had instances where the car will charge to the set level, pause, then decide to carry on to 100%.

I just changed my charging profile to 80% as recommended. So far so good.

Do you leave it on all the time and it won’t pass it or you experience difference?

As long as your profile is set to ‘optimised charging’ (not preferred charging window) and you don’t have any timers enabled, then it will stop at the level you set in the profile. I’ve had no issues leaving the car plugged in for days after - it just sits there.

external EV chargers (EVSE's) do not constantly charge an EV - they are actuallly external on/off switches 100% under control of the vehicle's on board charging software - _IF_ your EVSE is charging your Taycan (or any other EV) then it's because the Taycan is allowing that to happen…for safety reasons even when plugged into a vehicle - EVSE's have the power flow "off" unless specifically "told" via control signaling from the vehicle to allow AC power to flow…

this is the EVSE's primary purpose to prevent power from flowing unless it's plugged into vehicle, and this safety feature is why we just don't charge EV with extension cords - extension cords have no "smarts" to interrupt the powerflow - they are "live" AC powered devices and will electrocute you if dropped in a puddle - a J-1772 EVSE does not allow any power to flow if it's not plugged into a vehicle - when it's not plugged in it's inert and has no AC power "in the cord".

the external box (EVSE) is _NOT_ actually a charger - it's just a remotely controlled power switch and it's the vehicle that decides to charge or not charge the battery…

if your Taycan is charging to 100% it's due to either timers/profiles being set that way, or bugs in Porsche's software (not unheard of) - but the EVSE here is not at fault since it can not force the vehicle to charge the battery - _ONLY_ the vehicle can charge the battery - the EVSe just provides a raw AC power-feed to the onboard vehicle AC/DC charging hardware - this hardware is exclusively under control of Porsche's vehicle software.

this is also why EVSE's are not vendor/vehicle specific, since they have no specific command/ccontrol over vehicle battery charging - they are dumb passive devices under control of the vehicle's software - this is why you can charge your Taycan virtually anywhere - the EVSE's you plug into are just dumb on/off switchs - all the "smarts" about how/when to charge your Taycan's battery is embedded in hardware/software with the vehicle - the "chargers" you plug into are just dumb external power supplies, kinda like USB-A/C power bricks you can charge your cell phone anywhere for the same reason.
