Currently have a 2018 Macan GTS and have a new highly spec'd Macan GTS arriving in July costing circa £90K. I Do about 8000 miles per year. I am beginning to wonder whether I should buy a used Taycan ST GTS instead for £72K, 9 months old, 4k miles. Much cheaper monthly cost including fuel. Love the way the Taycan drives - it is amazing. Worried about further depreciation. It is also very wide and low so more liley to get scuffed, knocked. The cost over ownership over 3 years is much lower on the Taycan. Will the last of the ICE Macan GTS's depreciate very slowly? Has the Taycan taken most of its depreciation in the 1st year? Tough choice. All thoughts, opinions welcome

Is that the white one in London (ST GTS?). It’s come down quite a bit over the past month or two. Whilst it’s not got a lot of options it’s a hell of a car for the price.

I did consider a Macan GTS last year but felt it dated inside - I never got to drive one tho. Will it feel dated outside too as the Macan EV lands on the road?

I’ve had my ST GTS 2 weeks and it’s an amazing car and one I’d highly recommend.

Yes thats the one - £15k down and & circa £600 month over 3 years with a £47k residual
Bit of a bargain but no pan roof, no surround camera and no Bose.
the Macan is dated inside but still a very nice place to be with the Python Green GTS interior and sport pack. PSW4A3C6
Thinking long and hard

ICE Macan GTS versus Taycan GTS? And the Taycan is 20K less? I'd take the Taycan no question... assuming that the very much not-an-SUV Taycan works for you. Especially with the EV Macan soming soon, the ICE Macan, whose platform goes back all the way to 2005, seems like a dinosaur to me.

2 completely different cars and not a valid comparison to my mind.

If you have no anxiety with range then its a simple choice. Taycan all day long.

ICE Macans are only available in UK within Europe and no doubt will be phased out before too long. This leaves you with a dated Macan.

The Macan is a great car I've had a Turbo for 3 years and my wife has a T and just loves it tonthe point she hasn't driven our GTS ST in a year.

I would shop around for a better spec'd Taycan personally or Macan EV at this point.

Taycan for me. I would personally not pay that price for an in my eyes older Macan - even if it is brand new and not made yet. The EV is in the new one for me.

I’m wondering why you can’t decide between the two. Only the brand is the same, but on every aspect the cars are very different. Do you want an EV Shooting break, or an ICE SUV.

I was with @W1NGE almost to the end - why look for a better specced Taycan? I find that people tend to exaggerate the importance of options.

That’s a pretty good deal.

I had 20 in my saved list, that being one of them. One thing I’ve noticed is a lot are coming down but higher spec ones seem to be sticking. Even though I bought mine I’m just keen to keep them saved and see what happens.

For me, the spec was (is) too low and I didn’t like the wheels but everyone has different likes. As I say it’s some car for the money. I think calling out the missing options you do - you’d be better looking for one that has them/some.

As @W1NGE says they’re 2 different motors. The Taycan is fantastic though and far more modern

I had a Mac an GTS when they first came out then moved into Cayennes due to family need. Picked up a Taycan GTS last summer and it is in a different league…

Macan is actually a lot of fun, drives like a big Golf R, has no right to drive as well as it does.

The Taycan is a big leap forward, however, in handling, road holding, and the addictive steam-turbine manner that EV’s put power down…

Yes it’s wide, yes it’s low but it’s genuinely engaging to drive. It’s a ridiculous bit of kit, i love it.

I do see the odd potential for a proper SUV alongside it on the driveway but Id be more inclined to get something like an old Land Cruiser to do the crap jobs properly and with less worry!

Pano roof is important to most and affords additional flexibility- if ST then roof rails become available for example.

Found another Taycan GTS same age but with all the options for £9k more. Probably a better bet long term and see if I can get them down to £78k ?

My wife has a Velar so covered on the SUV front. Only concern is finding charge points on the occasional long journey eg Manchester to London

That won't be a problem.

Try Waze or Zapmap to plan a route to see your charging options. Easier when you get the Taycan (use NAV then).

If you're going to live with an expensive car, getting the options you want on it is important IMO. £72k is still a lot of money.

I'm also not sure I fully agree with the generally held belief that options do no retain their value. There will be some circumstances where it might hold true
... But the market for cars with a pano roof, for example, is going to be a chunk wider than for cars without (Frank notwithstanding). So cars will sell more readily and two sat next to each other on a lot will show a price difference as a result.

Taycan.
Period.
Why?
IMO,because it’s the best looking EV…and best driving experience.
