This is one of the larger disappointments of the Taycan, the lack of OTA updates. Coming from Tesla, I imagined all EVs would update that way. Sadly, not the case. These particular updates - better charging rates and an updated charging screen - sound nice, but I'd love to see enhanced Apple CarPlay features. I know. Wishful thinking....

Dealers are not hurting at all with these electric vehicles. Look at just how many recalls Taycan has had let alone all the problem cars out there. The dealer gets paid each time one of these happens. If anything they may be making more on electric then gas cars now.
PCNA is very stingy with warranty reimbursement - it’s a bit like hospital bills - there is the retail price and then there is the insurance negotiated price - warranty reimbursement won’t keep the lights on and staff paid at most dealerships

I think we got ripped off. Porsche, and VW at large, failed at software. They’re good at bending metal into attractive shapes, but that’s about it.
Yep about the software but I prefer having my hood and trunk alligned properly with my fenders or having the door handle on the same height.

You mean 230.000?
To be fair... at this price point no car has good software. Only cheaper cars manage to have good software apparently ?
That's what's so wild to me. I was looking around for a successor to the Taycan and checked out a DB12, Roma, 488. All have appalling software. Ferrari gave me the run-around that CarPlay is not available because it's expensive. Like, guys, it's free to integrate if you're MFI certified, and Apple doesn't charge you licensing fees.

It just seems the automotive sector, especially non-American brands, are really terrible at shipping good software products. I don't understand it. Spin up an R&D team with a couple of world class product designers, engineers, and product managers. Do something. It's such a joke that among all the high end brands Porsche is actually a leader in being the least terrible in software.

Gone are the days of being able to bend metal into an attractive shape and flaunt your craftsmanship. That stuff needs to be backed up by modern software support.

Hell, I'll do it on the design side for 50% if they're looking. It's so, so bad. It's also such a potentially large market vertical that they can all unlock.

I've had 4 Model S'es. Hoods were aligned with fenders, door handles all same level. Sure, it developed some creaks and rattled in the first month instead of 10 months that it took my Taycan dash to do the same (lauder actually), but either way I still have to fix them (right now shoved some foam behind the instrument cluster of the Taycan - reduces the creaks and rattles until I find time to take apart the dash to fix it).

It's not wild actually. Let's look at extreme ends - Tesla Model 3 vs. Rimac Nevera. Which car do you think generates more total revenue and profit. Now take some percentage of that profit and call it your software budget. Tesla will have orders of magnitude more software engineering budget than Rimac, even though each Rimac has a lot more profit per car (it costs $2.60M vs. $0.04M). The only hope for high end cars is that they can reuse software from lower end cars, or that there will be an industry standard at some point, like Android for phones and tablets, but for the whole car. Each manufacturer then only has to add their own customizations, again, like Android phones/tablets.

I’d agree with you for bespoke, ultra low volume manufacturers. But Porsche, being part of VW, most definitely has the volume and the budget.

improved charging performance of facelift Taycan is mainly accomplished by way more powerful heating and cooling performance (now also powered on HV afaik), which also means part of the higher energy flow is wasted.
This is a complete redesign of hardware and cannot be updated.
(see the facelift leaked pdf that was shared in the forum)

PCM and dashboard changes can be updated though.

On the rattle in the dash/behind the wheel, I JUST got that in on mine. Can you make I post on how you fixed it? I took mine to service, with another 3-4 issues; and while I do hope they fix it, i doubt it.

Mine making a creaking sound from somewhere around the steering wheel. But it only appears after about 1.5h driving! It’s creaking with vibrations, not from movement of the wheel etc.
I’m sure my OPC would never find or fix that sadly.

Die Antwoord's Open The Door makes the door panels rattle with just the standard 150 Watt Sound Package Plus, did they improve this?
