We have a 2025 Taycan Turbo so the EV6 is a fair bit slower. That said, it is crazy how quick the mid-level EV6 is. We got it for about $30K after tax credits and discounts. A lot of car for the money although it is in a different league than the Taycan.
I gotta admit I want a ride in a Turbo at least once!......(maybe twice....can't even begin to imagine what Launch Control is like!)

The EV6 is pretty amazing for the price and helps, I think, bring the world a little closer to wide scale adoption for (somewhat) affordable EVs.

I hope to be driving to Colorado this summer..can I get a ride???

Slightly off topic, but I am attempting to repair a petrol-powered chain saw (a very well-known brand), and is notoriously difficult to start. And it has around 1 gazillion parts. I have the carburettor in pieces and don’t know how many bits I will have left over after reassembling it. It made me think… what if there were a chain saw that started reliably every time, was quiet, reliable and inexpensive to run. Oh wait, there is, and I just bought one - battery-powered of course. Off to the skip with you ICE chainsaw!

Considering how “dirty” yard equipment is with regards to emissions, the sooner most ICE tools are replaced with electric versions, the better!

I am fairly sure when this lease is over, I am DONE. There is not enough time remaining in my life to have infra structure meet the current EV needs. Its a shame but an unavoidable reality. Usually, I am one and done - in this case I am two and done. I will go back to ICE for my DD. I have had it at every level of what the total EV experience has to offer. FWIW, I have not had any real issues with either of two Taycan's, the infra structure is just not there where I drive.

So you must drive >200 miles each day, or you can’t charge at home?

I drive quite a bit and I can charge at home.
I find that when I need to charge on the road, it is a sh_t show. Ques are long averaging 2-4 cars at an EA station, which is mostly what we have in the NE. In over 4 1/2 years of driving Taycan's, I have never received more than 150kW and mostly obtain between 100kW to 120kW. The NE infra structure is the worst and where I need it - severely derated.
The cost of the EV and a must have second car is not very cost effective. Road trip charging is such a PIA, that I won't use the Taycan for that purpose.
Unlike many others, I did not plunge into the EV world to save the planet. I like the drive experience. I have grown weary of recalls, battery problems, lengthy service visits and road trip charging.

That’s a bummer.

It appears that much of that poor DCFC experience is changing with Tesla opening up their network and EA apparently finally starting to get their sh*t together.

I drove our Genesis EV to LA yesterday and despite the horror stories that have been reported, found a station very close to my destination, pulled up, (no queue) plugged in and charged from 40-80% in 12 minutes.

Didn’t even have time to grab lunch!

My point is that the situation is getting better. You’ve already experienced the worst - it won’t be like that much longer.

BTW, I also didn’t buy an EV to save the planet or save money - I bought one because I really enjoyed the way it drove!

I don't foresee ever buying another new ICE vehicle. Every part of the EV ownership/driving experience is better than ICE, except for long road trips...which are why airplanes exist.

I still want a 2-door EV. Porsche needs to get the Cayman EV to market.

In what scenario in today's environment could or would ever justify flying 200 to 400 miles.

Couple of scenarios come to mind:
  • Avoiding rush traffic in places like L.A., 20-30 mile private jet flight could save valuable time. Of course your time must be worth more than that private jet flight, and probably the plane repositioning to be where you need it to be.
  • I heard of a few of companies (worked for them or with them) which had chartered flights between offices, 200-400 miles apart. One in the morning, one in the afternoon. Some people commuted on those. That was in the late 90's, but I would not be surprised if some companies still did it until COVID, where remote work became more of a norm.
