Hi. What a great forum.

After 25 years in ICE daily driver Porsche, Im looking to trade my 12 year old 991.1 Carrera 4S for a Taycan Turismo with the initial 12-18 month depreciation hit. I just want a bit more space, some modern gizmos and some nice torque.

At equal price and comparable equipment levels (at least vs my must have list) do I go for (real life examples on short list):
- 15 month old Turbo Sport with 36k km (100kchf before haggling)
- 12 month old 4S Cross with 24k km (110kchf)
- 18 month old GTS Sport with 12k km (110kchf)
The standard warranty is 48 months here in Switzerland. I'll keep the car a good while and only do about 8k km mileage.

Thanks for your thoughts!
Danny

Very different cars. You’ll need to abandon the reason you want one to make sense to get the other. Other than both being fun to drive, they are not interchangeable.

Thanks. Can you elucidate?
Just to be clear, these are all Turismo's; I want the extra trunk space. They are all on 21" wheels, all have PTV+, PASM, RAS so similar setups on paper apart from the power.
This being Switzerland they are all pretty fully optioned (battery+, sport chrono, hud, innodrive, bose, surround view, full leather).
My use case is mostly commuting to golf club 40km each way which is 50% fun bendy country roads intersperseded by villages full of speed traps and 50% motorway, so tough is my existence!
Im going to try and test the Turbo and GTS versions.

GTS ST would be my pick over the Turbo given the lower mileage.Plenty power and high torque.

ST looks better IMHO

You would favour mileage over age all things being equal? Im thinking every month newer is an extra month of the 2+2 standard warranty..
The Turbo is quite a lot more expensive with road tax (based on power here) and probably insurance here too I think, not that this is a deciding factor.

Mileage has little impact on battery life. Charging habits and age matter more.

You should ask for an extract of SoH of the battery from PIWIS no matter which one you chose. You should aim for 90%+

Another important thing is the option: 150kw convertor

I would take the turbo. More options included as standard.

Without knowing the full build sheets it's difficult to say.

Are the colours the same inside and out?

If you don't use rough roads, I'd go Turbo or GTS. The CT is lovely, but softer.

I have a GTS because I really liked all the GTS options/minor differences. Speed wise there's nothing between the two in the real world.

Just search for a MY25, they are rare as used but worth the waiting. the new MY25 4S has the same power of previous generation GTS, with more range.

Probably I would but there are other factors - are the cars of the same Model Year (if so then the hardware will be identical - GTS has the same motors as the Turbo (just software detuned for example) and gets better reviews as it is seen as the 'best of the crop' for many people.

May take some effort but create a table in Excel for each model with relevant data including options etc. This will help to zone in which option is best suited to your needs.

You can always extend the warranty...

Hi chun where are you in Switzerland?

I tested the Turbo today, it's a nice "eisgraumetallic" with black leather and pretty much every option, original list price 238kchf, 36000km, 11.23 registered, 100kchf delivered including the summer tyres for the Mission wheels. Its a dealer company car, allegedly only driven by the head of sales atm.

The SoH is 91.55%, and the dealer has started doing "third party" battery checks by Avilloo, this morning's test came back 94/100 overall, with 67/70 for "charging and driving behaviour" and 27/30 for "voltage and temperature module health".

Ive got the recall history screenshot and ARBOA brakes has been done, WPS91 thermomanagement and WPN82 PCM and he says the recent battery ARM6/7 would show up if the VIN was on the list. Is there a way of consulting the VIN for us?

I will make a final call tomorrow, but Im 99% going for it.

Sounds great.
My dealer is in Geneve. I am not.
It's great that they do third party battery checks, they are more through and more accurate. 91.55% is great. 100k for 15 month old turbo is a great deal. (battery will degrade much slower after first year, but in the first year it can go down 10%, it's just the nature of the chemistry used in these batteries)

Your dealer sounds very transparent, however the part with "only driven by the head of sales" is bullshit 100%, but it shouldn't matter. If there is no big damage to the inside or outside, no problems.

I would also check the protection plate of the battery, underneath the car, so it doesn't have any big dents. They do not check this in Switzerland at dealerships, but in USA there have been cases of basically declaring a total loss / 70k+ repair bill over dents in the protection plate underneath the car.

Also, an issue I just got in mine, some rattle in the passenger door when playing music. So definitely try some bass heavy music, make sure nothing rattles - they can fix it fast if it does, but better fix it before you get the car. As the car is quiet, driving with any rattles drives me mad...

LOL, yes, although 36k in 14 month is 110km per weekday 52 weeks a year and the car is basically perfect, no curbing, parking bumps etc, so probably an experienced driver over pure test/loan car. I will check the undertray. Appreciate the input.

I have taken the plungs and signed the contract today, it will take about a week for them to do full prep as well as service that is due, change the rear of the middle 20% seat that has been scratched by ski edges would be my guess. He throws in the winter tyres that must be almost new, 7mm of tread.

Congrats and what is it? Very confusing from the image to have J1.1 front and sports design package but wheels look like J1.2 Mission-Es. Any way for you to share full spec or link to it on the dealer page.
