It's a little hidden, but open the charging function in the app and then click the gear icon in the upper right. You should see two options, "Automatic AC plug unlocking" and "Uninstall plug & charge certificate". (I seem to be unable to post a screenshot here today for some reason).

I believe it only unlocks when you're AC charging; when it works, I can pull the charging cable out of the car after the charge is complete without hitting the unlock button, which is a small convenience that would be more important if someone else in my garage needed to use the charger. I've had it work, but after the big J1.2 software updates last fall, the car seems unable to remember the setting. It's settable from within the car too.
I only have the cert option. Perhaps different on J1.2 now.

Of limited use I'd say..

Auto unlock is on the app. Icon looks same as the car key fob. I use it when my car is valeted as I don't have to leave office to open car. Can lock it when they are finished.

The Taycan climate from app has always been a piece of #%$&.. My Lightning starts up within 5 seconds every time.. This Porsche one is hit and miss and for most part takes a while...

So it seems this this is just Porsche software on the cloud side, since Porsche doesn't have much of an OTA capability for car software. It's probably a good thing that they cannot OTA cars, as at their current competence level they should probably stick to manual software updates to prevent things like this on the car side.

For those who experience this, see if setting a timer works (it does for me) as a workaround until Porsche cloud fixes itself (someone reboots some server probably).

I got the “this function is unavailable” warning a few times in the week leading up to my heater failure. I didn’t connect the dots because iirc, one time the pre climate worked again after I rebooted my iPhone.

It feels like a coincidence to me since it also happened around the time of the climate widget update but not sure if there is any connection between these issues.

My heater works, when in the car, or even via the app if I send a departure timer. That said, perhaps the manual pre-heat has some extra check which fails on a heater in its last legs. My car is on its second heater, the first one was replaced proactively by Porsche via recall.

Reference was to the charging port cable lock (Vehicle Plug) and not the car lock / unlock - 2 separate things and we all have that on the home screen of the app.

I have on my J1.1 but it is always greyed out - suspect it was one of several features that were quietly "retired".

Is anyone else experiencing this (Porsche cloud software engineering strikes again), or is my Taycan broken? I tried rebooting the PCM, did not help. Porsche got rid of controls via web browser, so no more backup either.
Exact same issue for me. Certainly annoying. Had been working “reasonably” well this winter. And by that I mean a batting average of maybe around 85% whereas in 2020 with my OG Taycan it was much worse. Wife’s Rivian always works. At least it *hit the the bed after our deep freeze ended in Minnesota. Hopefully they sort it on the backend. Thanks for digging into it a bit.

At least the workaround still works - just set a timer from the app, even if only 5 minutes into the future.

I have also had this issue in my 2025 Taycan for the past month or so. I called Porsche Support last week and they said it is a known issue. Escalated to engineering team in Germany and requested some photos and screenshots. Waiting to hear back from them.

I would suggest calling support and doing the same so they get more data on how widespread the issue is.

I heard from somebody on Facebook that they were advised to perform WRV3 recall software update for this issue. I went ahead and scheduled that next week. Will keep you posted.

At first I tried email support but wasn’t getting anywhere. I called 1-800-PORSCHE (1-800-767-7243) and talked to a representative on the phone. She initially said I may have to do a factory reset, but then spoke to her “expert” who told her it was a known issue, then she gave me instructions on which screenshots to take along with a couple photos of my PCM.

Actually just got an email response from support. So it is on the Porsche end, not your app/vehicle.
We are currently experiencing an outage with the Pre-Climate function. Our international engineering team is aware of the issue and is actively working to resolve it. I will be sure to keep you updated as I receive more information.
