The parking pre-climatization section of the Owner's Manual left me unsure as to whether I can, on a hot summer day, turn on the air conditioning, leave and lock the car, and return after an indefinite interval. For example, in the parking lot of a shopping venue or a movie theater. Can I do that?

Pre-climate feature is different from what you are describing. It can be turned on in the car or via app for 60 minutes. Otherwise, if you leave the car "running" it turns off after 30 minutes.

:( Ah. I suppose I was spoiled in this regard by the Tesla Model S I used to have. But thanks.

Admittedly I prefer some of the Model S features but the fit, finish and the handling of the Taycan blow the Model S out of the water IMO. The S was a really beautiful car when it came out but the refined beauty of the Taycan is second to none as EVs go. Taycan is a supermodel so you take what she gives you. I haven’t found another EV to fill my next garage spot but it’s likely going to be another Porsche… I’m hoping for a convertible Taycan but it may end up being a 911 (ICE) or Boxster (EV) convertible. I’ll get the 911 for unlimited range or the Boxster (EV) for around town… Both far superior cars to Tesla but at the time the Model S was the only choice for a sleek beautiful EV.
My neighbor still has his 2018 with unlimited charging and less than 80K miles. Still looks good but the body design is basically the same so he’s not interested to get a new one.
If I had a 2018 in perfect condition, I’d keep it too…

Heh. I didn't mean to suggest I was considering a Tesla rather than a Taycan!

No, I didn’t think so but admittedly I would more than likely bought a Model S if the Taycan was not available.
I drove numerous Tesla’s from AVIS over the years and I very much enjoyed driving them. I liked the one pedal driving but my wife hated that.
She likes the fact the Taycan cruises after you take your foot off the accelerator since that’s what happens in a ICE car.
The moment we saw our Taycan in the coffee beige color with black interior we were hooked! There was no way we were leaving the dealership without her. But of course my wife assumes our Taycan is a he…

You remind me of something else I'll miss: one-pedal.

I'm not seeing a coffee beige in the 2025's Configurator. There's a Chalk which is beige-like. BTW, as with most colors, in the Configurator you have to use the 360° View to see the actual color; the static photos are not accurate.

I don’t see this color other than on 2021s. Maybe it was just one or two years but I get so many compliments on the color.
I always bought black cars until we saw this color. I would have never thought I would buy a white or beige car. So happy I’m keeping my Taycan forever. This one becomes part of my collection…

Apparently it was only offered on the 2021 model year.

I use the app to start the A/C a few minutes before leaving a store, movies, etc.

FWIW coffee beige metallic was available for the 2022 Taycans, but I'm not sure how many were built with that color.

I just sold my 2020 Model S Performance. It is a very nice car in terms of its tech, ride, and of course, straight away acceleration, but it is NOT a Porsche. I will miss the Dog Mode, which was really cool. The big screen in the car would stay lighted up and inform passers by that the car is set at 72 degrees and that "My owner will be right back" with a cartoon of a tail waging dog. Pretty cool, actually.

But the car is just not well built. So many little manufacturing details with the fit and finish are sub par, at least compared to any German car, or even Japanese for that matter.

My Taycan Turbo S is still on its way from Germany so I don't have enough experience with it except the test drives I've had, but with just that limited experience, it is a completely different level of driving experience and build quality. I can't wait!

hopefully little software gremlins--like needing to reboot the PCM with the two-finger trick because switching audio sources or volume control stopped working--will not spoil your liking the car over time.

i could not stand it and sold it for models s plaid and so far love it.

Yes you can, sort of. I do it all the time from the lower center console screen. I believe it will stay on for 60 minutes. I turn off the car using the power button, Click the little battery icon, then press the precook/heat button. After that I get out of the car and lock it. When I come back the car is at the same temperature I left it at. Of course you can always use the app to do the same but that can be unreliable.

I ordered coffee beige metallic on a new '23 cross Turismo cuz I was sick of my Cayennes that always looked dirty in the gorgeous dark metallic colors. Now it can be dirty as can be and you can't tell. I went two months this winter without having to wash it. Dustbusters help in this matter.
