UK 111 Check and Buying Extended Warranty - My Experience

I thought I would post this on here in case someone else was in a similar situation. I bought a 2020 Taycan 4S in February, I bought it from a private seller and it did not have any warranty. The car had 49k on the clock.

I had to wait 90 after buying the car but I have just purchased 2 years warranty from Porsche at Silverstone. They had to do a 111 check which cost me £265. I was bricking myself that they would fine all sorts wrong which would mean that it would not be viable to get a warranty because I would have to get the issues fixed first. The only thing they failed it on were two worn front tyres (even though the car passed an MOT a few days ago). They charged me £800 for two tyres and then sold me 2 years warranty for £2,190. Overall it was an expensive Saturday morning but at least I now have peace of mind that I am covered by a Porsche warranty if something goes wrong. I can keep extending it now without having to redo the 111 Check as long as I extend before the warranty runs out.

I was a little surprised that the warranty doesn’t cover the high voltage battery or any glass. The later means that if I have an issue with my pan roof, it is not covered.

The high voltage battery has its own 8 year/100k mile warranty so probably why it’s not in the general warranty. Annoying about the tyres, maybe the warranty requirement for amount of tread is more than the legal/MOT amount, or maybe they weren’t N rated, didn’t they give the reason? Great price for 2 years though, thought that was more like the 1 year price. I’ll be going in for a warranty soon, would bite their hands off at that price.

Sorry my mistake, the price was £2190 for two years. They said the tyres were worn on the inside. i will get 4 wheel alignment done on the car in case it’s out.

Thanks for sharing this. I have recently bought a Taycan and am currently in the 90 day wait time. I have 111 point check booked with Porsche Silverstone as well, so it’s good to hear your positive experience.

My 90 days is up at the end of June, it’s a Porsche Silverstone Car from new and was with them before I bought it for recalls and updates. Wonder if they treat “one of their own” any differently? ?

On another note, anybody have experience of an OPC integrating the 111 check into a service in return for a discount? Realise that would be quite un-Porsche like.

Are you sure it doesn't include glass? I was pretty sure it did. Certainly on the pano' roof (excluding damage caused by external influence etc).

Yes that’s about the price. I got 3 years for 3k but was with garage I bought new from. To take me from 4-7 years. Great car enjoy.

No idea, but they do make it very clear in their warranty brochure.

The cost of the 111 seems to vary. looks like @afhussain got a good deal at £265, I've been quoted a ludicrous £423 and a still high £360 today. Disappointing they look to make a big margin out of it.

I was quoted £350 for the 111 check over the phone, but on the day they had a different price list.
