I never use it. It's superfluous.
I'll second that.

When I got my Taycan my logic was:
+ I love gadgets so the passenger screen would be great
- I never sit in the passenger seat so I'd never use it
- I don't want my passengers fiddling with my car
Result: no passenger screen :like:

I'll second that.

When I got my Taycan my logic was:
+ I love gadgets so the passenger screen would be great
- PCM didn't work for shit anyway (2020 model year)
- I assumed some smart aftermarket manufacturer would develop a simple but full fledged Android tablet with the correct dimensions that would just pop in there.

Still waiting for point 3 to become reality...

The passenger display was already specced on my 2023 model when I bought it used and I'd have to agree it's not that great. I ride passenger pretty often and I end up using the other displays more. Unless it's already specced, or you're getting one of the newer models that have streaming on it, I'd definetely suggest not adding it!

I agree . I have it and wouldn’t spec it again at the 1000 cost. I can’t imagine spending much more to retrofit it.

Passenger Display Regret - Why I Wouldn’t Recommend It for the Taycan GTS

I spec’d the passenger display on my ’23 Taycan GTS, and honestly, I regret it for several reasons:

1. Limited Functionality: I initially assumed that the passenger screen would activate and show vehicle telemetry while I’m driving solo. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. The screen only offers three options: turning off, displaying the Taycan logo, or showing the current media playing. It does nothing in terms of enhancing the driving experience for the driver.

2. Finger Marks on RaceTex Dash: I opted for the GTS interior with the RaceTex dashboard, and it drives me crazy when passengers touch the screen. The fabric is prone to showing finger marks and imprints, and it’s frustrating to see smudges left behind after they’ve been playing around with it.

3. Distraction for Passengers: When my 12-year-old son rides in the front, he uses the display to scroll through music, which usually ends up being the same two or three songs on repeat. While it may seem like a minor issue, it detracts from the shared driving experience, and I find it more of a nuisance than a benefit.

In my opinion, the passenger display is a pretty useless option. If you’re considering adding it, I would recommend against it. I still believe that being in a car together should be a social experience, and passengers already have enough distractions with their phones, tablets, and smartwatches. Another screen just adds to that distraction and takes away from enjoying the ride together.

In support of the passenger display: we get great use out of it during our road trips. It really brings together the concept of your passenger being a "co-driver".

My co-driver likes to leave the display on satellite view – which gives them situational awareness when driving in snow, in tunnels or at night.

We use it all the time when we want to make adjustments to our charging plan en-route; allowing safe refinements while driving in an unfamiliar country without impacting the driver.

It is a must-have option for us.

My wife uses it all the time to re-route us if we get stuck in traffic, for example. She also loves being in control of the music...maybe that's a negative? :D
Aesthetically speaking, the Taycan's dash looks unfinished without it. Just having a blank panel looks lame. Porsche should have come up with a better solution, such as a larger glovebox or something.

It's expensive, but for our personal use case, I think it's worth it.

I think you have a point about the dash looking unfinished. In years gone by it would really annoy me to see blanked-off buttons and switches in cars (when we had such things), reminding you all the time that you didn't buy the higher-spec model with all the bells-n-whistles.

I can't say the Taycan without the passenger screen looks too bad, especially as I never sit there :CWL:, but there's a definite hint that it should be a screen, especially if you've seen other cars with the option. Older designs like the Panamera had a trim panel which matched the rest of the cockpit nicely, no hint something was missing.

I know this is an older thread, but I found this on YouTube and I know you can buy passenger displays on eBay
