I've grown accustomed to driving with aftermarket wide-angle / aspherical mirrors on my other cars, and felt less confident driving the Taycan without it. I originally planned on purchasing the driver's side mirror from Suncoast, though with my car having LCA + auto-dimming, that was ringing in at $500 for one side mirror

I found and purchased a used set (includes both sides) from EBay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/186149247045) from Latvia, pristine condition, though came with 2 dead tiny spiders ?
$280 (+ $9 shipping); prices and inventory seem to fluctuate

Here's the driver's side:

The benefit on the driver's side is obvious, and may be all one needs. I used a higher f-stop on these photos to better highlight:
1) on the driver's side- the vertical line near the corner
2) the increased field of view is impressive and some may be lost due to the obstructing shape/sides of the mirror cover. In use with some head movement, the increased coverage is valuable.

Please ignore the change in color/lightning. (I had to retake some shots to get a closer match on composition and the shallow depth-of-field was hiding some details.)

The passenger side only has a slight improvement EDIT: (upon further inspection) is identical to the original; also no "objects in mirror are closer..." text (EDIT: legally required in the US for convex passenger side mirrors). Since we're not in Jurassic Park, no need.

A few years ago I did a similar before and after on the Model Y with an aftermarket set (also have it on the Model 3); the increase in visibility is similar:

Thanks for posting! I've done this on older Porsches but didn't know it was available for the Taycan.

What's the installation procedure? Do you basically pry-out the old mirror until it pops out of the mount, and then pop in the new mirror (and disconnect/reconnect any wires)?

I adjusted the side mirrors all the way to the left or right, depending which resulted in the largest gap (each side was different in my case), and with your hands inserted as much as possible, just pull out that side carefully.

For my set, there were 4 wires per side- I believe 2 pins for the heated mirrors, 1 plug for the LCA, 1 for auto-dimming. As all parts were OEM, connections and back side were identical with original and replacement mirrors.

The pin wires were very tight and I kept a finger on the glue on the plastic side as it showed some flex to be safe. Have a narrow flat screwdriver within arms reach (on a stool, or resting on your driver/passenger seat) because the plugs may also need it for releasing a tab.

Reattaching is easy as it will just snap right in, and if you had shifted the mirror positions during this process, the car automatically restores the original positions when you turn it on.

Updated impressions: the driver's side mirror replacement is a must-have for me. The constant feed of improved situational awareness is needed.

Recent example, using below illustration, with myself as the blue car. I had finished the turn and there was a stopped bus in my lane. With the wide angle mirror I clearly saw the orange car had barely left the starting position and it made changing into the orange lane easy. If just relying on LCA/BSM lights, this would have been dangerous.

+1. Aspherical driver side mirror is great for situations like these, similar to when someone is coming up behind two lanes over and wanting to switch into the same lane as you.
