Red Circle of DEATH

It is so appalling that the issue persist. My obc has been changed a year ago and I thought this was all resolved. But i got the red circle of death this morning again ?

I know, they are really struggeling, like my Taycan!

At least I got word today after more than 3 weeks in the shop, that Prosche Germany agreed to replace the whole battery pack. Will take a week to order and a week to replace!

Hopefully my Taycan is ready for Xmas!

The overall quality of the battery pack is certainly not to the level I would expect from a brand like Porsche.

There are new developments in power electronics at Mercedes, which will proliferate throughout the industry for sure to solve IMHO the biggest problem: If any battery module is not quite there anymore, the whole car is dead.

It says Zellmodul J, but based on this thread, I could not figure out if the quality is good.

Does anyone know more about this battery pack? After 3 module failures and 5 months in the shop over the past 18 months do I finally have a solid car?

Any dents deeper than 3.3 mm in the bottom panel of the battery?

No dents as far as I know.

As a recipient of a new battery after 3 1/2 years and 40K miles, I would say you are in very good shape. Definitely get an OBD reader and check your voltages regularly at <10% and 100% just to make sure.

25K miles only. I hope it's more reliable now, otherwise I give up on Porsche for good!

Unfortunately the capacity of the battery with 87kWh is not up to date anymore!

Just got my red circle of death last Saturday and the car has been towed to Porsche.
I waited over three days to check if the error would magically go away but no dice. Also this just happened 4 days after going in for the 2yr/20k service..

On a side note mine already had this issue before I purchased and was told the battery has been replaced (but I feel like it was just modules replaced, not the battery). When I used the CarScanner before it showed as 90% SoH, and the taycan battery software by ct14garage showed one module being much newer so I’m 99% sure it was just a module replaced not the entire battery.


They said they’ll get back to me by end of this week so we’ll see what they say.

I towed to Porsche North Seattle but they didn’t have any loaners until 7/18. Porsche Bellevue had loaners starting 7/1, so had it towed again to Bellevue.

Quick update.
They said they took an initial look and it seemed like the 12v battery just needed a charge. They said this error sometimes happens when 12v battery is low.

However, I know this is BS since this issue happened when my 12v battery was not low. My battery got low after I checked on the car every 20-30 mins for few days to see if error would go away and it completely drained while towing. I mentioned that but they are insisting there’s nothing else showing up.
They will keep the car for another day and release tomorrow after checking again.

However, it’s interesting that draining the 12v battery and recharging it could make the car drivable again?

Either way I’m pretty sure I’m gonna need my car towed to Porsche again pretty soon ?‍
