You're right, actually I did the same (although not with the steering wheel).
To be sure I also activated privacy mode.
So, in summary:
-Enable privacy mode
-Switch off car
-Wait at least 15 minutes
-Keep the key away from the car (at least 10 meters).

TLDR: I've had an absolute result and Porsche have replaced both fans without my knowledge, and as far as I was aware, with no warranty remaining...
My 2021 4S CT had been into Porsche for the ARB5 recall work during the summer, and they carried out the standard vehicle health check. I was presented with the video, 2 x drain plugs missing for the battery cover, a slight lip on the rear discs, and an error code for the passenger size cooling fan (seized) and £202 to investigate the issue. I told them not to carry out any additional work other than the recall, and recieved the car back.
After reading the extensive threads on here on this topic, I jacked up the car removed the wheel and arch liner, and tried to get the fan to free up (pressure washing, WD-40, spray grease, physically trying to move it both ways), completely solid. My intention was to by an extended warranty, however with the requirement for the 111 poin check, I knew it would find this issue, and I would be into the thousands to have it sorted then the warranty.
I had been researching how to remove the bumper, looking at replacements on eBay with the aim to take on this job myself. This morning I decided a bit of time has passed, I'm going to get the liner off and have another go at it before resorting to the bumper off etc.
To my astonishment, the fan was turning perfectly. I thought I was losing the plot, how could it be freely moving when I had given it everything before with no luck. Then after a few minutes of head scratching I noticed this:
The fan has been replaced with the upgraded version. In my state of disbelief, I check the drivers side and this has also been replaced.
If I hadn't decided to check this I would have had no idea that they had been done. I went on to Vinanalytics and paid for the service report to see what was showing and it appears to have been done at my local centre when it was back in for the battery monitoring software in September, although I note it doesn't show as a warranty job. There is no way Porsche would do this out of the goodness of their heart surely...
Appreciate that Vinanalytics may not be entirely accurate, however there is some interesting info on warranty cover. As mentioned I believe the car is out of warranty and I haven't extended it, however based on this, it would appear that the electric fans, HV charger, and heater are warranted until 2026/2027:
It's interesting that onboard chargers, radiator fans and heaters are prone to failure, and these are the parts that have warranty extended. Am I reading this correct that these parts will still be covered, and is anyone aware of Porsche doing this?
I was anticipating this being a major PITA, significant time, effort and expense, and I'm still in disbelief that they have both been replaced. Note they have only done the fans and not the liners. Perhaps they feel the upgraded fans alone are enough to prevent ingress of muck?
If anyone is in a similar situation with a car out of warranty, may be worth asking the question of your OPC.
