Keen to have comments from anyone who had a gen1 GTS and has moved to a Gen2 4S.

im considering this but wanna know whether folk have done the same and regretted it?

im aware a GTS has a lot of sporty bits as standard and feels very planted on the road. Launch control is a gimmick but scary. In real world the drive is amazing but range leaves you wanting.
Does a gen2 4S feel equally assured?
BTW any differences from saloon to Spirt Tourismo

I moved from a Gen 1 Turbo S ST to a Gen 2 4S for 2 months whilst my Turbo S got a new battery.
I noticed the bumps as the 4S had coiled suspension rather than air
The Gen 2 range is a definite game changer, seeing in excess of 300 miles on a charge is brilliant.
I had thermal and insulated glass on the Gen 1 and noticed the road noise on the Gen 2
The Gen 2 maps displayed EV Chargers and their KWh which was good
The Gen 2 had push to pass which I enjoyed, I didn't really notice any great loss of performance
The ST is far more practical for boot (trunk) space and I missed that on the Gen 2
Gen 2 is better than Gen 1 and ST is better than the sedan

The best reason to get 1.2 over 1.1 all things being equal is improved battery performance, potentially better reliability and some of the options like air suspension included as standard now. If you prefer the stylings of GTS over traditional Taycan then you may prefer a J1.1 GTS over non GTS j1.2 though! Also there’s ways bigger discounts on J1.1

Went from a '22 MY 4s CT to a j1.2 4s ST in March.

- J1.1 looks way better at the front end - wings and around the lights / bumper.
- J1.2 does have better range. I've gone from circa 240 to 290 miles on a full charge (100% down to circa 10%). Suspect the 1.2 will be nearer 270 (or less?) in the winter. I avoid going below 10%.
- J1.1 had great matrix lights but they're another level in the j1.2. Better than any other other car I've been in.
- They feel basically the same inside. Both feel like quality products.
- J1.2 has a couple of extra display options for the main display are nice to have, but nothing special.
- J1.1 was fast but the J1.2 is that bit faster. Not done any launches but Push To Pass is useful when overtaking given it's a mode you can set without taking your hand off the wheel.
- The shitty-in-places PCM and app is still shitty. As are all Porsche's I've used in the past few years.
- J1.2 DC charging is noticeably faster. Both faster to charge and over a more useful temp range. I rarely public charge, but this has been welcome a handful of times. Won't be as fast as your GTS, but I suspect you won't really notice / miss the difference.

IMHO, the biggest impact on ride is the wheel / tyre size and seats not j1.1 or j1.2. Best setup is 20" rims and comfort seats. But the 21's on my j1.2 look amazing.

Separately, CT is better all round for ride height if that's important to you. Though I haven't yet bottomed-out my ST I should have bought another CT.

really interesting points. Bitten the bullet. Will report back in due course. 4S ST with HD matrix lights, 21 RS spyders, chromo, thermal insulated privacy etc

Very similar spec to mine.
You'll love it.
And relax with a longer warranty too :)

Ride height can be cheated by speccing the active ride. And actually that's one of the main things why to go for a J1.2... just IMO.
Agree.
But bought as an ex demo to get £45k off list so was limited in choice.

I have had Gen 1.1 4S (on 20”) Gen1.1 Turbo on Mission E.. both coupes and now drive a Gen1.2 4S back on 20”.

I loved the Turbo but the Mission E were a bit bumpy and increased road noise.

Generally the ST styling is a little more sedate but load carrying capacity is significantly better.

range and performance are well improved and the charging speeds at IONITY and even 200kw charging is noticeably better.

im very happy although I’ve been very tempted to buy a 1.2 GTS ST because it will have improved performance similar it better than my previous Turbo.

the deal fell through at the last minute because the dealer failed to mention they were selling me a non performance battery plus car built in 2024 that has been sat unsold on the forecourt for over 1y. Can you believe it
