the spec on this test car is 🤤.

Also their "low" verdict is nit picky... I get it, EVs are about range, but there is no distinction to useful range for any EV in the 300 mile range.

Also, any opinion about adjustability in regen is coming from a Tesla owner... Honestly, I think the regen feel is just about right for the Taycan, anything more aggressive and I would give myself motion sickness.

I don’t recall seeing what mode was being used. But I find the steering wheel recup button is useful as a ‘brake boost’.

Actually, virtually EVERY EV other than the Taycan offers adjustable regen, so it’s more likely that C&D is commenting on that reality and their frustration with Porsche’s intransigence on this specific issue…

Regen adjustments serve primarily one purpose, and that's not the point of the Taycan.

The car has never been about range or regen or efficiency. It's a pure focus on driving dynamics and fast charging.

…in a variety of driving scenarios. So many other aspects of driving dynamics are quite configurable (steering, suspension, throttle, stability, etc). Even e-sound has 3 settings: Normal, Sport, Off. Regen could do the same while adding more to driving dynamics more than fake space ship sounds (which I actually like).

No offense, but that’s an extremely myopic take on the whole concept of regen adjustment.

Have you ever owned any EV other than the Taycan?

I see more myopia in projecting the flawed concepts behind Tesla's definition of an EV on other cars. A good brake splitter achieves the same - and the Taycan's brake splitter is good - without the inherent flaws of heavy regen.

I applaud Porsche for designing cars which stay true to fundamental sports driving principles, those that you learn in racing school and must apply to drive properly anywhere close to the limit.

1: Porsche is alone in its approach to handling regen - the other approach isn’t a “Tesla thing”, it’s a “virtually every other EV on the market thing”.

2: Our other EVs will slow the car substantially without using the brake pedal, making daily driving simpler and less fatiguing.

3: My Tesla’s regen braking is strong enough to handle up to about 6/10ths driving on ACH - plenty fast enough to have fun.

4: I had an SCCA license when I was younger, so please don’t preach to me about “proper” driving.

Porsche's approach should be celebrated. If handling 2 pedals (let alone 3) is too much for you, then you have plenty of other choices.

You are preaching the opposite, which you know is anathema if you have the driver ed you claim to have. I doubt they taught you to have massive trail breaking at the apex, did they ?

Your Tesla does not have a break splitter, like the Taycan and many other EVs. Other than being lazy, which again is not what a Porsche is about, it is not only unnecessary to have massive regen, it is counter productive. To efficiency and driving accuracy.

The auto industry has been damaged enough by the adoption of stupid Tesla ideas.

LOL - the Taycan (and the current EV market as a whole) would. not. exist. if not for Tesla’s success with the Model S.

And I’ve owned multiple manual-transmissioned cars and several motorcycles, so again, please stop preaching…

Polestar 2 gets better range with one pedal driving off. But it offers a “strong” one pedal driving mode for the driving experience, not the regen. It also offers a “low” that’s more similar to Taycan’s “regen” mode.

130mph trap speed is pretty juicy, makes the higher models almost too too fast for the streets.

Assuming the GTS sedan would be +1 or +2 mph faster since they are lighter + better aero.
