need to replace my Continental Pro Contact RX tires. Only got 18K.
Live in AZ so very hot.. Want a performance tire which has a good ride and not noisy,. Also impact on EV mileage range a factor.
Appreciate recommendations
thanks

I use Hankook ion Evo on mine. Not N-rated, but very good tyres.

I just switched to Michelin Pilot Sport 4 from Pirellis...so far I like them much more!
Do you anticipate you will get more miles on the Michelins vs the Pirelli P Zero?
I put Michelin’s in my Boxster and loved them but never got to their useful lifespan because it got totaled.
Would love to know how many miles Taycan’s get on the Pilot Sport tires.

well this is all my experience when I say this. Before I had the Taycan CT, I had never had Pirelli's before. My BMW X5 had Continentals and Michelins, both great no issues, great longevity.
When I got the Taycan it had the Pirelli's P7's on them. In less than a year two punctures in rear tyres AND excessive wear in the inside wall of the front tyres. I just changed over to the michelins this week because "another puncture!" so I was like wtf - obviously this could be down to outright bad luck. So I changed over to the Pilot sport 4 NF0. When they took the tyres off, the front two tyres were literally destroyed on the inside. I drive like a grandpa and never in low and I had 13,000 KMS (I live in Australia so dont know what that is in miles) When I changed the tyres over, the guy at the tyre shop literally said to me "you will get so much more out of the Michelins than the Pirelli's. This could all be BS, I guess time will tell.

Good information. The only marginal edge the Pirelli’s have is in wet braking, handling performance & they’re cheaper but I live in Southern California where it never rains and when it does I don’t drive fast anyway so the Michelin’s are a better choice for me even if they cost more since they should give me more tread life to offset the higher cost.

You do not have choices if you want N0 rated All-Seasons in 21-inch.
Goodyear OEMs are total junk and do not come with any treadwear warranty.
Hankook EVO are not sold in the US after my search in correct size to have all 4.
Michelins are Panamera spec that others fitted and happy with.

What is wrong with your OEM Conti Pro Contact RX? Yes, they do not last but 15k miles on the front, but when you buy replacements, they come with 45k treadwear warranty, so when you wear them at 15k, you get 30k to prorate for replacement.

Luckily I’ll never drive my Taycan in snow so I have no need for all season tires. The Michelins would be fine for my needs to get a little more tread life.
I put no more than 5K miles per year max so if I replace tires every 4 or 5 years that’s fine with me.
Great thread to better understand the tire options.

@Gino that makes sense. I was just replying to the OP since this is a common question. I was pointing out that you really have zero option on tire choice if you are All-Season and 21 besides the Continentals. I do like them but always wonder if there were a Michelin set to exist what that would be like. I have Michelins on the SUVs (Cayenne Summer set, Macan All Season), not the same for comparison, but I would not use anything else, just superb tire all around.

So coincidentally last week I drove a colleagues Taycan same J1.1 4S spec as mine ……with these Hankook EVO tires (harder to find in the U.S. but possible).

Same 21” mission e wheels I have Conti Pro on mine…. The EVO is quieter, smoother and just as grippy. At his suggestion I launched a couple of times and I can tell you I will replace mine with Hankook EVO when the time comes.

I guess I should be asking the forum what is the best 21” summer tire for my 2021 Taycan RWD since I don’t need an all season tire. My vehicle will never see snow so I’m thinking I would get better mileage out of summer tires rather than all season. With my Boxster my Michelin’s lasted over the 6 year warranty and I eventually replaced them due to age as the sidewalls began showing signs of cracking in the hot dry climate of Southern California.
Ideally if I can get 25K miles out of a set of tires then I can simply replace all 4 tires every 6 years. I could rotate my tires on my 2000 Boxster front to back to get the most tread life but the Taycan tires are different sizes so rotating is not possible.
With these things in mind what EV speed rated summer tires are recommended to get at least 25K miles with not very aggressive driving?
It seems like Continental may have the longest tread life but I don’t want to increase road/interior noise if the rubber is too hard.

You're going to be hard press to fine a summer performance tire that will last 20k miles in a heavy performance EV.

Personally, I would buy the Pilot sport 4S. Which are great summer tires and have a 30k warranty. They will wear out in 15k, but then you get a 50% prorate on a new set. Works out in the end.

Sounds like the best plan. I’ve never had any issues with my Michelin’s on any vehicle. Replacing tires every 3 years at 50% to get fresh rubber is better than going 4 years to squeeze 18K out of my PZeros but have to pay full price to get another set.
