When I was looking at the service record, it said that goes to mobiliser only went off at 30 miles an hour. This was from Porsche West London.
Ive got a ghost 2 on my other car. Valet mode gets cancelled if you drive at 30mph for over 15 minutes continuously (i think it is). So if it's been in valet mode since porsche had it, and your run home was the first long trip, that could well have turned the ghost back on. If it has one!!

I'd take the service centres knowledge on this sort if thing with a pinch of salt. That and the previous owner may not have disclosed it as it's a third party system and worried about warranty etc.

good luck.

There weren’t any additional notes this is all I’ve got. But from what everybody saying it does seem to be very ghost immobiliser centric. But from one the ones I’ve seen it won’t let you put it into gear this one lets you but then stops you. I just hope I can put it into neutral and get it onto a flatbed tomorrow.

It probably not much help, but my Range Rover - if you try and put into gear (after starting it) w/o putting the code in, it stalls the engine and puts it into neutral. It stays in neutral until you turn car off. Next time you try and start it the engine wont fire up until you put the code in, but it stays in park.

I had one in on Friday, exactly as described. The car was parked on a slope so the driver thought it was in reverse when he backed out of the space and turned, it rolled out of the space and showed the faults the OP mentioned when he selected Drive; there was a 'bump' as it switch back to N. He tried 3x before coming in and letting us know; blocked the service lane perfectly 👌

The issue with mine is once happens you could not select any gear. You have to turn the car off and start again. - which makes me think it’s 10% maybe not a ghost immobiliser.

So today I picked up my approved Porsche Taycan from a dealer. I’ve driven it all of 22 miles parked up on my drive went through some settings and then wanted to park my car better on the drive and it won’t move. I get a number of error messages, including power button fault inspection necessary. If I try to put the car into drive, it will move forward half a foot and then stop.

I’ve had the AA around via Porsche assist to check the 12 V battery as I thought that might be an issue because it’s been in the dealer for a month or so without being driven. However, this seems fine at 13.5 V and they charged up and they still had the same issue.

If I remove the driver assist errors that pop-up as well only the power fault button shows but as soon as I put it into Drive or the other Message come back and headlights keep resetting. I have left the car off for 20 to 30 minutes come back still the same problem.

It’s not a great start to Taycan ownership! The car is clean the sensors and cameras are all clear so I think it’s some kind of major electrical fault.

Unless anybody’s got suggestions?

Power Button
I had this error in May 2025. My Opc did’nt find anything and reset the Error
Same thing last December so after controling wires and connectors they ordered a new Power Button and changed it.
It’s a known issue for some Taycans

Just like I suggested earlier but folk (I think) have gone down a rabbit hole on immobilisers.

It’s gone back to Porsche today so we’ll see what they say. I will insist they replace this button as well.

Personally, I don’t see why electric cars need a power button they’re always on that’s the point

I’m not sure that is accurate. Tesla doesn’t have a start button. You can just put it into drive.

Ehh, yes and no. You can do everything in Tesla that you can do with a start button by using the infotainment. There's a power off option and then you can tap the pedal to turn it back on.

VW AG likes to have a physical button for that. Normally works like that on the Taycan also if you have comfort entry, you just get in the car, press the brake and put the car in drive, but there needs to be something to turn it off still.

Tesla uses something buried in the menu, Taycan uses a physical button.

So to update everybody on this It was a ghost immobiliser that they didn’t remove. Even though it’s noted on the service record. They said despite their checks, nothing indicated that it was there. Does make me question the 111 point checks.
