All,
I have heard some others experience this, but recently my Taycan had the Yellow Electric System Error and would not drive, it would turn on, but not drive. So had it towed to dealer and now received video saying they are replacing the 22Kw with 11Kw, as Porsche was having issues with the 22Kw, and therefore they will also change the charge port. I have never used the 22Kw but with the Tesla Station charging capability driving from SF to LA would be a lot easier. I heard Porsche offers some form of compensation due to the change? Anyone else experience this? 2023 Taycan GTS Sport Turismo. Thanks

you're confusing Tesla fast charging with 22 kW (19.2 kW in North America) AC L2 charging

the two are unrelated - as to why they are changing the charging port - has nothing to do with 11 kW vs. 19.2 kW - that could be just wear/tear or all part of the swap…

there are many threads on this topic - search is your friend…compensation is what you negotiate - good luck!

Yearh mine is just back from the garage following exactly the same issue. Porsche repaired within two days and also found the battery heater also had a fault. Apparently both are very common faults

Porsche is refusing to repair a car back to the original performance specifications (22kW AC charging, or 19.2kW in the US), as part of the cost optimization to only keep the most common OBC in the parts supply chain. They want people to think it's ok to repair a Porsche with parts that perform at 50% of the original spec and hope the owners will not sue, throwing $1,000 coupons at people hoping they will accept. Some people do accept, buy themselves some Porsche swag - after all, 22kW OBC is no status symbol, buy $1,000 worth of swag can be. ;)

I thought you can actually spend the coupons on a set of tires or servicing cost?

@Stash182 & @Persuader - you actually got them, what are they good for?

It is all about your use case, for me it's either overnight charging at 11kw or 250kw when on the road, so I'd happily take the 3k+ offered.

Hell, I'd happily donate it to back to Ferdinand's family, provided they fix some of the recurring issues more promptly and for good!

Here, this one looks like it may have been a simpler architecture - no heater to break:

Absolutely correct, is it about the usecase. So anyone who doesn’t have a usecase, either bought a car configured by someone else, or didn’t think through whether they actually need this option but ordered it anyways, will likely be happy to take some cash back instead. Those who ordered it with purpose, who do have a usecase, get screwed by Porsche. I would have understood if they offered the downgrade for those who wanted it, but still offered the 22kW to those who would rather keep the charging performance they purchased. That is not the case however.

I had the same issue with my 2021 Taycan where I used the Tesla supercharger for the first time with the new adaptor, purchased from Porsche shop. Charge was working for 5 minutes until it went yellow with similar fault "electrical error" Towed to dealership where they are saying it's the converter which is a 11k part. Anyone get compensated for this? Do they accept blame considering they are promoting Taycan owners to use the Tesla superchargers???

I think you’ll find that many of us with 11kW chargers are fine but the ones with the 22kW have issues. It really depends on how much of an inconvenience it is to you, and how much you want to complain to Porsche about. You can also file a complaint with the NHTSA and see if that helps your case, or at least forces Porsche to do a recall.

this makes no sense - fast charging at a Supercharger has no relationship to 11/22 kW AC charging…

Failed OBC can prevent DC charging, as it is involved in the control channel communications. When my OBC died, car would not charge from AC nor DC (it was EA, Tesla was not yet available back then).

Of course the fact that it happened at a Tesla charger is probably pure coincidence. Mine died while AC charging at home, in the middle of charging.
