I need opinions & guidance on Continental ProContact RX all seasons

I have a J1.1 with the 19” wheels. I currently have Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires on my car. I LOVE these tires nine months out of the year here in Atlanta. The other three months, I worry a little bit about the decreased performance below 40F; I worry more about damaging the tires by driving them around when it gets down to 20F, which definitely happens here.

The car is my daily driver. I mostly use it for around town driving and the occasional road trip. A few times a year I do head into the north Georgia mountains for some driving for the sake of driving, but never past 7/10ths. I never drive in the snow. I don’t mind replacing tires every 15k miles if I get a meaningful benefit from doing so.

The only NF0 all season for the Taycan on 19s is the Continental ProContact RX, which is a grand touring tire. No Continental performance all season (sadly). No Michelins of any kind (even more sadly). Oh, there‘s also some Goodyear but no thanks.

The reviews for this tire on TireRack are quite good. The reviews on Continental’s own website are brutal. The chatter on the forums that I’ve dug up is somewhere between neutral and negative.

Anyone have good advice for my situation? Thanks

My '23 4S came with the Continental all-weather tires. It's my daily driver. I have only about 12,000 miles on the car. The tires have been quite satisfactory and do not show much wear. I understand they have a 45,000 factory warrantee for what that is worth. St Louis had a pretty good snow storm (8 inches of fresh falling snow) last year which gave me a chance to test the snow ability. I cranked the suspension to full up and took off. No problem with tires. On a clear stretch I tested the antilock brake function which pulsed rapidly, added about 15% of the stopping distance, perfectly straight.

I have had Michelin Pilot tires on other cars and they were great, perhaps the best summer performance tires I have ever tried. But not so good below forty degrees and terrible in snow.

I have been very satisfied with my Continentals.

I fitted these after I swapped the 20” turbo aero wheels that came with the car with 21” mission e. No complaints, great tires imo. I have 6k miles on them and there’s little signs of wear. Grip is nice too. I can’t notice a difference compared with the 20” Pilot Sport Michelins.

Good tire, but the only choice, unfortunately (Goodyears do not count). I have J1.1 on 21 Mission E-s and fronts wore out completely at 15k miles and noticed side wall cracking, but the rears holding up strong even at 25k miles now.

My MY2025 came with the ProContact RX and I think they’re fine (nearly 10K miles on them so far) though I don’t have anything to compare them too. I’ve never driven them in the snow but have in the cold and wet and, again, seem fine.

But the thing I want most to respond to in your original post is the mention of the ratings on Continental‘s own web site: brutal is right! People seem to hate the tires. When I read those reviews shortly after purchasing the car but before I’d driven it much, I was wondering whether I should replace the tires!!!

For sure! Most of the very negative reviews seemed to be from Tesla owners. I would hope Porsche would ensure any NF0 tire met a higher standard, but you never know!

I’m running 20” Procontacts on my 2024 CT4. I have 28,000 miles on them, mostly highway miles. They’ve been OK, but nothing exceptional. Since I live in the south, snow is not a big issue, I don’t track it, but handing in the rain is important. I’m replacing them with Michelin Primacy Tour A/S in the next week or two. Tire Rack rates them very well and I’ve always had good luck with Michelin tires in the past.

Following because I have to replace my Pirelli’s soon, they’re at 3mm and 4mm (10k miles) and been recommended to replace them soon. I have 21” RS Spyder wheels and was looking at either the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or the Hancock ION Evo based on Discount Tire’s recommendation. Are either of these NF0? I couldn’t figure out based on the pictures or descriptions.

Currently have a set of ExtremeContacts on my J1.2 and they're fantastic, even better than the stock PZ4s when it's a little cold and wet. Only catch is that Tire Rack seems to be the only place that stocks them in the correct size.

I have 21” RS Spyder wheels and was looking at either the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or the Hancock ION Evo based on Discount Tire’s recommendation. Are either of these NF0? I couldn’t figure out based on the pictures or descriptions.

Tire rack is a great place to research NF0. Just search tires for your vehicle and then apply the filter “original equipment”. The descriptions also say NF0 in the search results.

My 2022 4CT came with 20" wheels with all season tires, so I bought a set of forged Signature Wheels in 21" size. I was looking for a summer only tire for the 21" and decided to go the non NF0 route and bought Michelin PS4S tires. Unfortunately, this was during the pandemic and I got tired of waiting for the 21" Michelin PS4S in NA0 to come in. Like an impatient idiot, I had the rears mounted with PS4S in Porsche NA0 spec and the front Michelin PS4S in a Tesla TT spec. I think the NA0 is Porsche 911 spec ? Anyway, big mistake by mismatching the tires like that and thinking NA0 would be okay.

Injured my back a little and got tired of swapping the wheels/tires, so I decided to remove the Michelin summer tires and have the Continental ProContact RX tires installed. I have had no complaints with these tires and the ride has immproved immensely. Since my CT is mainly a Home Depot and Costco hauler, I have not noticed any detremental handling losses (CHP everywhere around my area, so I just go the speed limit now). Haven't driven the CT with these tires on any twisty roads, so I can't comment on that.

It won't hurt to check the dealer's pricing for NF0 tires. I ended up buying the tires at Porsche Sacramento and their prices were actually quite a bit cheaper than TireRack or America's Tires. Good Luck !

I would love to put on a set of performance all seasons as you say, but unfortunately they do not make them in the proper sizes for the 19in set up.

I'm near Seattle, so most of my driving is in 40-60F weather and wet roads.

Day-to-day they were fine, but if you pushed the car hard (having a bit of fun on an on-ramp, or a traffic circle) then the slipping point came a bit earlier than I was expecting and earlier than I am seeing with the ExtremeContacts.
