Question for those in the UK. I'm going to do all my charging at work where there is a 3 phase supply. Do I need anything else other than the standard kit supplied with a 4S to charge using at least 7KW?

Assume I would need to get a box of some sort as it will be outside.

Also do I need to request anything from Porsche or will they ask me the type of cable I need?

isn't that already advertised with the HEM to prioritize the solar input by charging consumption? At least it's one of the use cases of the EEBus standard stuff. A (not fully) work around would be to use the price optimization.
I like to add these slides of an EEBUS EV integration webinar

Porsche Taycan Show your home charging setup for your Taycan 1612739533759

They refer to the scenario of an Audi Etron , Audi MCC and HAGER/SMA EMS, which should be 99%-100% compatible with the Porsche stuff.

yes if you have 3 phase then you would need the red commando plug which is sold by Porsche separately in the uk

this is good to know. I just watched the 45min video all about charging a Taycan and I thought the guy implied that the PMCC could send other car metrics such as state of charge to the app so you can check it remotely. I was asking because my Turbo order locks soon and we’re thinking about dropping the PMCC and getting an aftermarket one instead. Thank you for the reply.
The car sends this info, not the PMCC.

Thanks. Do I request this before the build?

Has anyone got a set up like this that can show photos please.

3 phase will give you the potential of up to 22kW but you can only take advantage of this if you have ordered the 22kW AC onboard charger, if not then you will max out somewhere less than 11kW (max AC onboard charger which is standard in the car).

What charger are you using - Porsche or the one at your work?

Is your work charger a tethered (with charging cable) connection or untethered (no cable)?

If you look at post no 3 in this thread you will see an example of a three phase installation.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have anything set up yet at work. The only thing I will have is the Porsche Mobile Charger when/if it comes with the car as standard.

Just trying to work out the best way to do this with the least amount of money. Either set something that Porsche has provided or go with a charger like a Zappi etc.

Ok, that's clearer.

You get the Porsche Mobile Charger Plus (PMC) "free" as standard with the car which can be used as a dockable fixture at home or mobile if going somewhere remote at weekends for example. The step up from this is the Porsche Mobile Charger Connect (PMCC) which was free last quarter due to PMC supply issues but now £762. Both PMC and PMCC do the same thing and can be used for the same purposes - mobile / home fixing (which they can each undock from).

The PMC is only rated at 9.6kW whereas the PMCC is 22kW rated (where electrical supply permits). To get the max out of PMCC you need a 3 phase supply either at home or elsewhere (e.g. work) and both come with the same connection cables (3 pin plus an industrial connector).

As I mentioned earlier in order to get 22kW charging capability you have to pay for the 22kW AC on board charger option which is an outrageous £1,179 and only became available in late order MY21 cars. Most UK folk (and perhaps beyond) will not take this option as the costs of a 3 phase supply at home are prohibitive.

PMCC has a touch screen interface but both PMC and PMCC are networkable and provide the same functionality (see manuals for both).

I'm not an expert here but ideally if you could borrow a Taycan with the std PMC unit and take it to your work you will be able to see what it could charge at - perhaps up to the full 9.6kW which is better than you'd get at home with either PMC or PMCC on a single phase power connection (7.4kW - perfect for overnight top-ups).

The decision then is to ponder spending £1,179 for the "privilege" of being able to charge at up to 22kW on any public / 3rd party AC charger.

Remember that beyond work there are many options from 50kW DC (perfect) up to 350kW DC (dream time & ultra fast but relatively rare). I suggest you tick the 150kW DC option (£294) which is great if you know there are 400V services around (the Taycan is an 800V system that supports the 350kW DC chargers with up to 270kW throughput as standard).

Any non-Porsche charger should work just as well but you need to know the kW rating to determine suitability for your needs and indeed if you actually need anything beyond the standard PMC you get with the car.

In summary, to get 22kW you need to upgrade the standard onboard AC charger as mentioned above and either select the PMCC or source a non-Porsche 22kW AC charger. Depending on your daily mileage (and other options on the journey) I suspect the standard PMC will address your basic needs. If there's an option to install at home then you will be well placed to dock the PMC at home for overnight top ups and undock and take with you to work as and when needed.

Personally, I'd go with the PMCC as it works really well and integrates properly with the Porsche Dock and the general Porsche charging ecosystem.

You can request it any time. The cable cost around 107Uk. i have 3 phase 240v supply at my place so purchased the cable before hand . Attaching pics for you to see
One end connects to your charger while the other goes directly to your electrical supply .

So am I right in saying the black end will plug directly into the Porsche Mobile Charger Plus cable?

The red end goes into any standard red commando plug.

And then this way you can get a rate of up to 11KW?

Therefore I would not need to purchase any charger like a Zappi etc?

(Sorry if stupid question!)

See you've gone for the Porsche UK Recommendation - Andersen. I'm looking at them too. I don't suppose you could show a picture of the interior of your garage? Hoping for a tidy finish!
I had Anderson fit mine 2 weeks ago and the engineer was excellent, flexible on the location I wanted and very tidy work.

As far as I am aware you will get all cables and connectors with the standard PMC charging unit (including a 13A plug connector for emergency use) so you should not need anything else.

I have the PMCC and didn't get an additional connection cable to connect it to the electricity supply.

Andersen's installed the 32A supply and hooked everything up with the cables that came with PMCC (I keep the 13A plug cable in the boot).

Ask your dealer to confirm and the PMC should come with everything you need.

If not ready done so download the PMC manual.
