and what about the 11 kw Taycan OBC shown in 2023?
I think this is for model year 2024, but in either case, if someone agreed to pay for a car with 11kW OBC performance, IMHO they have a valid claim that Porsche did not deliver the car they agreed to pay for. Perhaps a bait-and-switch argument, advertise one thing, then after the sale take the capability away.

they did the same thing with the Macan - it was listed as 11 kW OBC - but never shipped in North American as 11 kW - and later updated to 9.6 kW on the website several months after deliveries started in North America…
Anyone who ordered an 11kW OBC and was not notified and given the option to walk away from the order with no monetary loss prior to delivery should have a case against Porsche here. Even Tesla, which has pulled some major post-delivery OTA witchcraft, learned that they need to notify people with orders pending that they are making a change, and have them sign off on said charges. I know someone who ordered a car before Tesla decided to pull ultrasonic sensors, and that friend was contacted by Tesla when they decided to pull them, and the friend was offered an option to cancel the order and get their deposit back, or agree to no ultrasonic sensors.

Porsche has been all over the map in North America for the charging limit.
Going back over historical posts, it seems Porsche claimed 9.6kW from 2019 until mid 2023, when they decided to advertise 11kW, then they went back to 9.6kW mid 2024 once the J1.2 configurator came out. So since 2019, it was probably only advertised as 11kW for approximately one year since 2019.

Don't get me wrong @daveo4EV, I think Porsche handling of this issue has been a mess, but should this ever go to court, they are probably covered for most of the delivered Taycans, for which they only promised 9.6kW OBC performance.

Now, could someone make a case that once a capability has been available to consumers for a long time, it becomes a spec and cannot be taken away without compensation? Perhaps, but IANAL. Maybe it would be fall under right-of-way laws such as the ones which say that if you let your neighbor use your property to pass though for years for free, you can no longer just close it off or charge for access just because it's your property (and neither can subsequent owners, so something always worth checking prior to acquiring a property).

The build sheet for my 2024 4S that the dealer sent me shows a 9.6 kW OBC but I get 10.4 right now. I also don’t know if this is specific to my car or just generic. I couldn’t find a VIN or other number associated with it other than a Porsche Code.

this _IS_ the core issue - the cars have always done 48 amps when used with a 48 amp capable EVSE - but Porsche has mostly published that Taycan is a 9.6 kW OBC - which clearly contradicts the observed behavior with North American Taycan's shipped since 2019 and into MY'2024 vehicles - it's only recently that they seem to be adjusting/aligning the actual vehicle behavior with their desired published standard of 9.6 kW…

I saved the entire My Porsche configuration for my car, before I purchased it. Here is what my 2025 GTS listed on their website while it was being advertised (note the charging time for both 11 kW and 9.6 kW):

Ha, ha, I learned to save screenshots of order screens while being a Tesla customer. Tesla invented changing content online and pretending it's always been that way. :CWL:

Did you also save your build pdf (the one which shows all standard features and options, along with their prices, and total price)? Did the OBC also list at 11kW there?

This is a CPO, so I never saw the original build sheet. The only build sheet I have was from my sales guy and it only lists the options/prices and not the standard features/prices.

I didn't know that info showed on the OBC... or do you mean what does it show when I'm charging? If the later, I only have a 30 amp circuit for it so I would never know.

I meant on a build sheet, or whatever documentation was provided at the time of sale.

i have just discovered that there's no way you can adjust the amperage of charge at public AC charger (I don't understand why), as I have a 22kw charger and living in fear of the OBC die on the road I will be happy to have this "update" 😅

Why not just use public DC charging and avoid public AC? Besides, my guess is that public AC isn’t that likely to be running a 100A circuit if it’s in a small office building, etc. but I’d love to hear from people who use them. I tried for the first time last week at a buildings ChargePoint parking spot (didn’t need the charge as badly as I wanted the rock star parking spot) and it told me I had the wrong type of membership
