Hi i just got my car back from 2+ months in the shop for battery module replacement. Doing my first full charge on Chargepoint Flex in months, and im only getting 8.8 kw into battery (9.6 kW from chargepoint). mine is hardwired on 60A circuit and was outputting 11.5 kw before, with 10.5 kw going into battery. I tested with my hardwired tesla wallbox that also outputs 11.5 kW when charging my tesla, and it also only outputs 9.6 kw/8.8 kw into battery.

Question: was there a recent SW update to limit the OBC charge rate to 9.6 kw? does anyone else have a similar setup? one of the things in service notes was SW update for OBC and HV battery as part of the diagnosis, so wondering if it also included this new limit.

I think this may be a region specific (US) thing.

Check the poll on the Macan EV forum where 9.6kW seems to be the max possible on home L2 charging.

Not an issue on either car in EU or UK.

Double check the amperage setting in your Chargepoint app. Make sure it is at 48A to reach the 10.5kw.

This is not normal. 48Amp into the car should give you max 11.5kW, before losses, etc.
Macan EV is the only one known to be limited to 40Amp and 9.6kW in the US.

in the app it is set to 48A, but one time before a CP software update it re-set it back to plug-in/50A breaker. working through it with chargepoint now. but i thought it was also strange that i got the same 9.6 kw from my tesla gen2...

chargepoint is confirmed to output 48A to my tesla. dealer looked at the car, they confirmed its charging at 40A and don't have any other info. they also dont have a way to test above 40A thats not DCFC. i emailed customer support but am not expecting much. its very disappointing to have what seems like a new SW limitation on the OBC that is in-line with the macan...

Let's see if anyone else has this on the Taycan. I am all up to date and I am good for full 48Amp/11kW. I would recommend finding someone in your area with 11kW home charger to try it out.

Macan EV is known to be limited for all in the US to 40Amp/9.6kW. I drove 3 as a test and all were maxing out at 9.6kW on my 11kW charger at home used for Taycan.

I AC charged a brand new 4S Macan on Saturday morning. The EVSE could deliver 22kW but as the car only has 11kW i got 10.6kW. The supply would have been 3 phase 32A.

We know that outside of the US 11kW as you are seeing is working fine. No US Macan EVs can do it.

this is a change in behavior as Taycan used to be max 48 amps/11 kW in North America - confirmed and documented with units charging at 11 kW since introduction in 2019…

Porsche has always had a confusing relationship with 9.6 vs. 11 kW limits, and their North American stats have always confused the two limits

11 kW onboard charger vs 9.6 kW max rate for _MOBILE_ EVSE's on 50 amp circuits

their documentation has always been wonky
their support has always been confused
and their standard equipment capabilities has been outright wrong/contradictory at times

this simply depressed me to no end since in my mind this is simply another symptom of Porsche's simply not caring about EV's enough to get the details right…

of NOTE: the 2024 Cayenne/Panamera eHybrids support 11 kW charging - because small battery hybrid's need fast charging

what a f'ing mess!

I think I have all the software updates, including the battery check. I have a 2020 4s and ChargePoint home flex (since March 2024) and have not seen a change. It is hardwired for 60A and I’m getting 11kw. My home 240 is more like 210-220. The car is reporting a little over 10.
