I generally appreciate Harry's perspective, but this is an odd video and not a very insightful take on the state of the industry, IMO.

Old man rambling about how bad new things are, and how they will litrarly destroy the world, and how it's a sign of facism to impose cars that don't polute on the people, because polution is freedom of expresion.

Didn't actually watch this video, but that's how all of his videos on EVs sound, so safe to asume this one also. Did i get close?

Its almost like he watched JayEmm and felt the need to display EV opinion. Appreciate we are to some degree an echo chamber in here but those of use who pay to fuel things and live with things in the real world I suspect we are not that interested in ICE powered anymore.... as a previous owner of 3 911's I miss long 2 door bodies not ICE.

EV a have been on Earth for 2 minutes… they serve well a portion of the users…
My Taycan wouldn’t go far with my 3.5 tonne trailer… for that I need a 3.0 diesel.
And still not able to get rid of my V8 sports car… EV gives me the economy and the Power during the week, ICE cars for the weekend fun…

Enjoy his videos generally, including these occasional industry big picture perspectives, even this one covers problems with the transition from fossil and the mistakes some brands have made quite well.

In the end though he doesn’t see (or want to see) EVs than can serve pretty much every purpose are coming or recognise the role fossil industry propaganda has played, most of the quotes he put up were from the media that propagate it and this video feeds into it.

His last review of a Taycan was OK as I remember, but he had the usual range hang up. I’m of the view that it’s mostly psychological to want more range and the anti-EV brigade still tap into that relentlessly.

Harry lost me here, I could not take my eyes of the bodywork of that red Lamborghini Countach behind him. Get the polisher out for goodness sake and give that bodywork some love.

I used to enjoy some of his stuff, but this 25 minute video could easily have been distilled down to a few PowerPoint slides. It's a lot of facts to support a not very revelatory analysis.

This is not the first time Harry has given this view...starts with a narrative and builds a piece around it.

Porsche screwed up on the Taycan. They weren't helped by Covid and the Ukraine war, but they screwed the pooch and have done nothing to help the product.

As for residuals, they are what they are for an expensive sports saloon/estate...some journalists thinking they should be like 911s are part of the issue here. They aren't 911s (residuals on which will start to get hurt more and more IMO). Notice how he doesn't reference the drops in Panamera, Cayenne or even Macan sales. Porsche have problems that are deeper than "because EV".

People can now buy what they "want"? STFU Harry. Most people, apart from those like yourself, buy what they can afford. When govts were "subsidising" diesel, guess what people bought in droves.

Harry's a dinosaur. A loveable one. Given his sort of disposable income my garage would be full of some similar cars. But the new generations of driver, or even the vast majority of drivers right now and forever, couldn't care less about noise or even handling etc etc. If they did this chart from Statista would not look even remotely like it does!

Back to Harry...so Porsche cannot differentiate their products? With all their engineering know how? Then they do not deserve to survive.

I bought a Taycan (personal, non-subsidised money) because it's a fantastic car and at the time, way better than the competition. They can whine about EV all they like, but unless they keep ahead of the game through engineering (hardware...and they now need to get at least up to speed with software) then they will fail, and nobody should be upset about that. It's called progress. Survival of the fittest.

Nobody is going to his house with torches mate.

He puts content online, then that content is open for criticism.

He literally takes a bullet point from the oil industry PowerPoint for anti ev propaganda and rambles and propagates it to his audience, further spreading misinformation.

The least he could do is do a bit of research, fact check his statements or at the very least present other viewpoints beside his clearly biased one

And he does this every few months. All his videos on EVs are the same

Man, I don’t care where anybody says when I have to fill up my SUV twice a week at $92 per fill and I’m not gonna lie. I more often than not use 91 octane versus the recommended 93 octane…. Don’t shoot me. I get reimbursed the mileage at the Federal rate anyway but by my calculations, I’ll also save about 600 per month on gas alone if not more. I’d rather hear a video about those who purchased EV’s and their happiness with doing so because it justified their means. For a few people, I know outside of this forum who have EVs swear by them.

Not a video, but:
We own 5 cars in total, and 4 of them are EVs. The 5th will be replaced by an EV when the time comes.

I drive a Mini Cooper SE as my daily city driver. With a full charge in warm weather, it will get about 90 miles range.
I've never once had any issue with range. I charge at work, mostly, because my office building is solar powered. But I do occasionally charge at home. Just plug the thing in. No issue.
