So is there any way around this?
Would preconditioning increase the temp to 32degC? That seems v hot.

could you nagivate to the IONITY charger? Would it assume one was going to charge at the destination.

the issue is the porsche navigation selects non ionity chargers. Or chargers were the number in units is low. I try to only use ones with scores of chargers so I never wait for a slot
I would try setting the address as the ionity charger location and drive there using Sport+ so it’ll heat up the battery temperature.

If you select any EVSE that is DC and 50kW or more and add as a stopover in NAV the preconditioning will work.

32C is not hot in battery terms and optimal for ultra rapid charging.

Spend a moment and read the relevant section in your Owner's Manual.

gotta be honest, just do not have time to read manuals. Having said that and accepting I am not using the porker as GmBH intend, I still feel this is poor design. Easy enough to have a "battery precondition" toggle on the lcd screen.

Increasing numbers of folk are wedded to phone emulators like apple car play/android equivalent. The second I switch to Waze the car sat nav cancels.

Waze saves be from "breaking the speed limit" in proximity to detectors etc. I would struggle to drive without it.

Overall, while I love the car, I'm left feeling Porsche have a poor driver experience in terms of the GUI and how one controls/manages it.

I also use Waze for everything navigation but I have found that if I need to use Porsche’s to precondition the battery, I can still see Waze on the main screen, and I still get alerts on the road. I can live without Porsche’s nav directions on the big screen because they still show up on my HUD or the right side of the driver dashboard.

That’s odd; when I navigate with any app on CarPlay it switches off Porsche navigation

You could have discovered more from the manual in the time it took you to type a response here. The manual is in the car in the app and online too.

Porsche have made a conscious decision to not have a battery preconditioning switch for whatever reason and have persisted with this approach on all their EVs since 2019. Perhaps the Cayenne EV will break the mould.

In terms of managing speed why not use the adaptive speed limiter which is standard in your car which automatically limits your speed?

I'm guessing you actually want to exceed the limits when possible.

Personally I've always used the native features in the Taycan otherwise I'd miss out on various useful functionality.

I suspect in time that Android Automotive (not Auto) and Carplay will become fully embedded and have direct control of all the car's features. Some integration is present e.g. Nav guidance in HUD and / or right tube, audio and heating controls.

What I like about Waze is it reminds me of the speed limit before passing camera. Nowadays I just drive within limits.

min going to give the PCM a try and report back at the end of the year

Your car already does that with the speed limit clearly displayed on the left tube (or elsewhere on the dash) and you can make it flash / bong with a preset value above the limit.

Problem is that NAV is extremely unreliable in Europe. Fades to black every couple of minutes on a bad day.

It is possible to link Apple Maps to your car; that gives it access to charge level. And it will calculate a route that includes stops for charging. I have even been able (don't ask me how... I forgot) to tell it I prefer charging at Ionity. Only thing is it won't (to the best of my knowledge) do active preconditioning. I'd love to be able to use NAV but it's just dangerous, going to black in the middle of an unknown city at the height of commuter traffic. Ask me how I know.

If you find yourself visiting the same handful of Ionity stations on a consistent basis, I'd suggest "starring" them in the native Nav system. Much easier to find them that way than putting in the address.

I've found that I can use any car play nav and the Porsche nav if I start the car play app (Waze or Tom Tom Go) first then put in the destination on the Porsche nav, they both work. Putting in the car play 2nd cancels the Porsche nav like you say

Tested my car today., Set destination in PCM. Then started waze and also Apple Maps. In both cases, starting carplay navigation cancelled the PCM navigation. Sometimes very quickly, sometimes within a few minutes. Either way, running both was not possible.

Interestingly PCM was glitchy; kept cancelling the route navigation after a 5 or so minutes for no apparent reason

What @Charlie said was he started Apple nav first, then nav in the PCM.

A well known problem in UK/Europe - there's a thread on the forum stretching to over 70 pages.

My sales guy at Porsche Rotterdam confirmed that there will be an update to PCM in June. They said they will install this when I take mine in for 'maintenance'. Fingers crossed.
