I've been traveling a bit lately and have struggled to find hotels that have EV chargers. I stayed at one in Newport Rhode Island with 6 chargers and that was great...but finding it was difficult. There is an app called EV Hotels that is good in concept and somewhat useful - but it does not appear to be updated. Anybody know better resources? (I love getting up in the morning and finding a fully charged car!)

I've had this same problem. I've used an app like plugshare to find out and then ended up calling the hotel directly to validate what was online. I also tried using Marriott website/app to find out and it is sadly lacking. Perhaps a comment to the larger hotel chains to update this information would yield some results

I just pinged Marriott via their app :)

I did a couple of trial searches on their app and website and there is currently no way to filter for EV charging. You can subsequently go through every hotel and see if they offer EV charging. Don't now how well this is kept up to date though.

I remember researching this same thing 3-4 years ago and had your exact problem. It's crazy that this hasn't improved much since then.

I went on to hotels.com and they do have a filter for EV charging - as above, don't know how accurate so i would always call the hotel prior to booking.

plug share with validation by calling the hotel and checking recent check-ins on plugshare. Tesla destination chargers are also a good bet and will work for you if you have a TeslaTap

the situation is also slowly evolving - with more and more fast charging sites coming online you no longer need to rely on overnight charging many times recently I’ve been able to ”top-off” using a near by fast charger to a hotel I’m staying at overnight.

I followed your example and just sent the following message to Marriot's Bonvoy team: "Dear Sir, Madam, this message is only meant as a constructive suggestion for your website. In this age of rapid roll-out of electric vehicles, it would be very useful to have a Filter (e.g. under Transportation) in your Search Hotels section which would reflect whether an hotel has electric vehicle chargers available for its guests. Ideally, it would indicate whether any available chargers are Tesla and/or non-Tesla as Tesla vehicles have a different plug than other electric vehicle brands. Thank you." Hopefully other forum members can send similar messages so that we build up some pressure and get noticed.

This is going to sound counter-intuitive, but I would go to:

https://www.tesla.com/findus?v=2&bounds=61.51222238942299,-35.88825002010643,8.646208128600769,-161.65973439510643&zoom=4&filters=store,service,supercharger,destination charger,bodyshop

Be sure and set your filter to Destination Charging. I've found that Tesla Destination charging locations usually have standard J1772 chargers on the property as well. And if they don't and you have a TeslaTap, then you're good to go anyway.
a very useful suggestion..thanks...would give me a chance to try my (unused) Tesla Tap also!

In the near future I foresee this 100%. Similar to when gas stations were few and far between. Worrying about charging will be a thing of 2020's past one day.

One thing to note: There are some Tesla destination charging locations that only do it via their valet. In that case, I've seen them refuse to use external adapters. In other words, this is not a 100% safe bet. (Likely still OK - just pointing it out for awareness).

I've also heard that the Tesla destination chargers will have the option to charge (at cost?) for the charging, and those that do are locked into a Tesla only mode. Would be great to get confirmation on that second aspect if anybody has more info.

Have you tried an app called EVHotels? I have seen a lot of chargers at hotels on it but never tried any of them.

Stay N Charge is another app, however I have not personally used it.
Thanks...seems oriented towards showing member hotels that have "joined" the stayncharge.com domain (as opposed to showing ALL hotels w/ chargers in the area)..but it is an additional resource
