Charging Dock Installation Details

Managed to source a box off e-bay for £95. Friend installed a 40a radial in the garage to give the necessary 32a. Those eagle eyed members will see that the charger is in fact an e-tron charger. It is the same as a Porsche Universal Charger but with different branding. When my Mobile Charger Connect arrives I will fit that so the e-tron version will be the one I take when I am out and about. That plus cables and bag again e-bay for £128.

tell me more abou the cooling fan - part numbers? link? how are you powering the fan - and does it always run - or temp based or only when the PMCC is “on”...

I’d love to hear about your setup.

It's a manual on/off set up, not using any temp based trigger. I just turn it on when charging and off when done charging. I have an outlet near by but it can run by battery as well. I know the PMCC supply cable, plug and breaker specs indicate they can handle the temps, but I just do not like charging with all that unnecessary heat at these components. I don't think the high heat would be present if not for the 16amp PMCC supply cable. Amazing how much this small fan reduces the temps at all 3 points. Holmes 4" Personal Fan - Amazon B07YLKSTZK

The charging dock was installed a few days ago. There were two rubber seals or bushings not used. Looks like maybe for the cable slot on the bottom. What is correct?

Those plugs are for the wall side of the unit, top and bottom where conduit runs into the housing. You could replace it on the bottom of yours, given your conduit runs down into the top of the unit.

Looks just like mine. I didn't end up using the extra bushings for anything. They're just sitting inside the case.

I don’t have the charging dock so I can’t answer your question, but I wouldn’t worry about needing to mount it on a wall stud. It really isn’t very heavy.

It will be when you wind the cables around it!

I had to go buy lag bolts at the hardware store so I could be sure that they were going into the wall studs far enough. I think the ones I got were 3/8" diameter and either 3" or 3.5" long.

Same issue here. The included screws would have been OK had I not needed the spacer but it wasn’t even close with the spacer (which was necessary because of the conduit). Thankfully my electrician installing the NEMA 14-50 outlet had longer lag bolts in his truck.

thanks all - I ended up getting 5/16 3.5" lag bolt - it worked well.

Man - despite this thing being bigger than necessary / lower amperage than what car can handle.
This thing does look really nice on the wall. Glad my car came with it

The depth is just over 9 inches. Manual says 9.1 inches or 231 mm. It is quite large but it is a very nice product that looks great on the wall and hides the 25 ft cord very nicely.
