However the forum is flooded with posts of people whose 12v battery has needed replacement. This isn’t uncommon, especially on a 2020 model.
True but that has nothing to do with the kind of battery.
It has to do with not being charged properly and dying after the threshold of the BMS in the battery is passed.
The BMS software in the battery shuts it down for safety and protection and you can't access it any longer, not even recharge it.
I think I've mentioned that before but obviously it's not understood or missed.

The only way to get it working again, is to physically open it, recharge it and if you're over the threshold you can close it and let it run on its own BMS software.

So, this has nothing to do with the kind of battery but only with the BMS software.
Some early Taycans had trouble recharging from the HV battery but that problem is now solved.
After that, the battery will last a very long time cuz it's properly recharged by the car.
I thought that was common knowledge here but obviously it isn't.

Edit: obviously Porsche doesn't cut batteries to fix them, they just put a new one in.
All these batteries can be fixed for a fraction of the costs, very frustrating.
