I really like the 21” RS Spyder Design Wheels. - What would be the positives vs the negatives of 20” vs 21” Wheels?

I've had both.

Slightly better ride on 20" but you likely won't notice.

21" are easier to kerb, RS Spyders are poor in terms of range efficiency (had them on my GTS ST).

Not much else other than cost and replacement tyre cost is higher with 21".

I have a 21' set of taycan exclusive wheels, plus a 20' set of sport aeros on my 4S. I can honestly say that the 20' wheels have almost 8-10% better range. Also a better ride and quite less prone to kerbs; plus, the tires last longer. In addition the car feels a bit faster acceleration-wise.
21s' win on looks and better handling at high speeds.

Therefore, there are more posivites with the 20s' than the 21s'. But you have to decide for yourself what is more improtant to you.

There are always pot holes to consider. My wife blew two tyres in one. 20’s should be less fragile but like others have said 21’s look good.

20” can look a little small on the car. 21” look right. I have 21” spyder on my GTS for summer and 20” for winter tyres. I actually prefer the feel of the car with the 21” wheels. I also prefer the painted finish rather than diamond cut on my 20”. Both 21” and 20” can be kerbed just as easily as each other and note it is a big car so susceptible to this.

The key with wheels as with the rest of the Porsche options list is that there is no "best" option. Porsche very intentionally offer a wide range of choices for different tastes and use cases when it comes to options. I prioritized aesthetics over cost, noise and ride quality. I find that the downsides are worth it as they are minimal/modest as compared to the upside.

No experience with other wheel sizes other than the 21” RS Spyders that came with my car. However I must say that my 21 inch wheels have been a pothole magnet this winter and I’ve had to replace 3 tires in one winter due to sidewall damage. Bad luck and poor road conditions potentially. But maybe smaller wheels and higher profile tires would be less susceptible to this. Just ordered a set of 20 inch winters because of this.

Positive - Looks cooler.
Negatives - Less range, more noise, ride a bit worse (I have air suspension).

I did it for the looks. :)
Exactly the same for my Turbo - I know 21'' is "worse-everything", but the looks is crazy, when you see them you don't give a shit about all the negatives lol

i went with 20s for better range, still looks good, and cheaper tires since that's one of the only maintenance items you have to worry about.

i also think some of the 21s look off with the rubber band tires, especially if you have one of the smaller brake options. if you do get 21s, definitely get the brake upgrade to fill up the space.

Mine came with 21 mission e wheels so I didn’t have a choice. I came from a 23 Model Y on 19s which had a much rougher ride than my Taycan so I can’t complain. I average about 3.2 mi/kWh so I can’t be mad at the efficiency.

What year Taycan do you have? I have a '22 with the PBP and haven't seen close to 3.2mi/kWh
