I really doubt this… This would be a very touch task for insurance to justify that a non NFO or non * rated tyre is a modification !I'd be more worried about the risk of insurance voiding cover. no idea if it might count as a non gem modification. Though i did note on a recent quote i had on different car that the insurer didn't view switching to winter tyres as a modification.
I once had a run in with insurance (many many years back) when run-flats in BMWs were starting out… I had put in non run-flats on my BMW and (again from forum posts) decided to call up the insurer to check.
The guy on the other end stated that if the car came with run-flats then that is what they would expect.
I simply asked them to send me some paperwork in their T&C that would clarify this…. (prove that run-flats or non run-flats would be deemed a modification and violation of the manufacturer’s recommendations or anything else to the effect)… and within 15 minutes, a manager called back to apologise and stated that it was a non-issue.
