Indeed !!! A Taycan is a large car particularly on uk roads. I don’t see it as a sports car, more an Audi etron with nice bells in the same way as Macan and Cayenne are Q5 and Q7 Audi based. OK cars imo but not Porsche ‘sports cars’

I had a 4CT loaner while GTS was in the shop. I have to say that I prefer the alcantara steering wheel (and interior). Not sure why it’s getting the hate. Especially in the summer it doesn’t heat up as much.

to answer the original question, if you compare gen 1 4s to GTS there is a significant increase in performance. It’s most noticeable when you have passengers in the car, the 4s feels quite sluggish. Especially acceleration on the highway is underwhelming (compare to GTS). Remember those are heavy vehicles.

True .. but I genuinely don’t believe GTS is worth the extra and definitely not a Taycan Turbo S which I have also tried over an extended period.
I've owned both for several years and the GTS on the 2nd hand market is more desirable than the 4S. These days both Turbo and Turbo S models are even more attractive such is the depreciation.

I understand on the second hand market you will go for the best value. I genuinely dislike the GTS standard trim.

I agree and many original owners seem to also agree and went with leather as there are some to be had.

My point is that … essentially I don’t think I would want a GTS over a 4S however the Porsche marketing types seem to push GTS .

I went from a CT4 to an ST GTS. Best thing I ever did. I absolutely love the racetex and discounted leather GTS primarily because my CT4 had leather and I wanted a different cabin.

I chose the CT4 over the 4s as wanted to spec it as I wanted and it would have been about £8k more for the 4s. I’m glad I did it as not sure I’d have swapped a 4s for a GTS but so happy I went the way I did.

Everyone is different - but for me, the GTS is just fantastic in every single way.

There have been some great Porsche GTS models over the years but unfortunately the Taycan GTS isn’t one of them. This doesn’t make it a bad car….its just not special in any way that truly matters. However, it is a more efficient way to get Alcantara if you are into that material.

In tthe US, for me the clincher was the GTS was the only way to get a sport turismo.
I much prefer leather and specced it with all leather and luxury options and find it a great balance. With the way I specced the car with performance options, many of which were standard in GTS and optional in a 4S, the price difference was not significant.

Are you comparing a 4 or a 4S ? I agree the 4 is a lot slower than a 4S. The difference between a 4S and GTS is really not that great in real world driving!

Indeed - different markets have different models and specs.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned it yet. Taycan GTS is supposedly a software-detuned Taycan Turbo, so if you're thinking about 3rd party power tune upgrades, having the Turbo hardware could be beneficial.

It has the same front and rear motors and so 'yes', software detuned.

The GTS is more about the good than anything else - yes, a little more power but enhanced dynamics as standard over the RWD, 4 & 4S. Allegedly it is also more efficient (can't say I agree in my experience). Racetex is a nod to racing cars and has been an option on all GTS variants across the years. It looks great on the A & B pillars and the roof headlining but for practical day-to-day use leather is the better alternative for the higher traffic areas - steering wheel, seats and dash.

The GEN 2 GTS when it comes will be more desirable and again will have around 60PS or so more than the GEN 2 4S to keep that niche going and all the while cheaper than the Turbo.

Clever marketing some might say!
