For the moment, I’ve only received the WRS0 letter (saying Porsche need to monitor my car’s battery).

If this leads to a ARB6 letter (which I think says don’t charge or park in or adjacent to buildings), then do we need to notify our insurers about this letter? If we do, it seems to me that could cause insurers to reassess continuing cover. This could lead to cancellation of the policy or an increased premium.

If my WRSO escalates, I'll be on the phone to Porsche to confirm that if I cannot park it indoors/charge it properly/etc, it'll be parked at their facility and that I'll expect a loaner.

Why should customers be expected to pick up the risk?

Couldn’t agree more. The car is unusable on a daily basis with that restriction.

I received a WRSO letter a couple of days ago advising that my vehicle will receive optimised battery diagnostic software that will in future display a warning message in the vehicle. The software is "expected to be available from the first quarter of 2025".

Any affected battery modules must be replaced.

My Taycan is currently waiting at the dealership for a replacement cell 22, that was previously diagnosed, so not sure if that means I will have the new software when it is repaired, the language is quite ambiguous.

How long has yours been at the dealer for the Cell replacement? I was told on the 11th December that I had a failed battery module (Cell 11) when it was in for a heater failure (it went in on the 2nd December for that).

I have been trying to get updates from them but they have been a bit illusive! I was told by someone else in the service team (because the guy I'm dealing with was on holiday) that they 'think' it is sat there waiting for Porsche to tell them what to do!

I've had both the WRS0 and ARB5 letters since it has been at the dealers.

I was quite patient to begin with, but it's fading pretty quickly.

My car was in for updates and for the main battery to be checked, it's been in for a few weeks, I thought it was being worked on, but when I checked back to see if they had Replaced the cell block module on high-volt battery, it turned out they had not been working on the car at all.

The updates have now been completed and once that was done, I was told that they can order the cell block module on high-volt battery, I am not clear on why there was a delay on working on the car, but may be Porsche are swamped with all the maintenance being performed on Taycans.

Apologies with my loose language, it is the cell block module on high-volt battery that is being replaced.

Quite... No idea how many modules there are, but it could be a recurring issue for the duration of ownership!

In the Performanice + battery there are 33 modules.

And yes it most likely will be a recurring issue for some of our cars. I have had two modules changed already and suspect another one is getting doubtful now.

Porsche are most likely trying to drag this out, and just change modules, as long as the batteries are under warranty. Cheaper for them. No respect for the owner when this happens and the dealer has no loaner. Porsche assistance offered me a Ford Puma rental while repairing the battery! From a company that tries to sell cars for 100,00 Euros +!

If they were taking the responsible action on this they would changed out the whole battery on these cars with trouble.

Perhaps that will be the action suggested once the battery warranty is expired and the only option presented will be a new battery at multi thousands of dollars.
